Pullman Hanoi

There's a Hanoi Hotels thread, but I wanted to post some pictures related to the Pullman Hanoi where I am at so have started a dedicated Pullman Hanoi thread.

Those who have followed my reviews know I'm a Pullman fan.

I booked a Standard Room and was upgraded to a Executive Room (which on paper is a double upgrade but is in fact a single upgrade to a Deluxe with Exec benefits - which are given anyway with Plat).

The building used to be the Horison Hotel and was converted to a Pullman two years ago.

Living in Asia and spoilt with lounges I dont tend to check in at the reception but make my way straight to the lounge. Everything was ready and I was presented with a drinks voucher (local cocktail, glass of wine, soft drink, beer).

Lounge wasnt too busy and was set up for the afternoon canape. Coffee was ok. Choice of food somewhat limited as opposed to the Pullman Saigon.

Contrary to what someone else posted in the 'Hanoi Hotels' thread, I did not have any of the amenities of an Executive room crossed out on the benefits page. That includes 3pc of laundry daily.

Also to note that if you are alone, you are allowed ONE guest in the lounge at no charge. A 3rd guest onwards will mean a charge of USD60++ (!!) per person (up to a max of 3 guests per day).

Room is standard "hotel design". Nothing special - like the Pullman Saigon. It does have a fairly long lounge (good as an extra bed for a kid).

BUT there was one difference. This hotel did not have a plate of sweets/fruits. It didnt have two plates... it had 5 (!!) plates of Cakes, fruits, pastries, local cakes. Let the picture do the talking.
ON TOP of that, it has a free mini bar. (Beer, Coke, Diet Coke, Green Tea, Pringles, Chocolate Bar) + the Espresso machine (not to be eaten).

One thing's for sure. They wont let you get hungry in your room.

I have also never seen Pullman branded water before. Something new.
One thing absent (not that it matters - but just for the lack of uniformity) is the typical welcome note from the GM.

So here are the pictures. ENJOY!

There are two. One under the TV and another on the left hand side wall which you can't see from the picture.

Breakfast is very basic. 3 hot dishes, egg options to order and some cold cuts / pastries. No bircher Müsli

Is that lounge breakfast or main restaurant? Also, do you get access to both with the lounge benefits? My experience in pullmans has been very consistent in that the lounge breakfast is too small, but main restaurant buffet excellent..

That's the lounge breakfast. I didn't ask here but I'd assume the main restaurant would be available too. I'm not a big breakfast eater so enjoy my time in the lounge. Give me my Müsli, some fruits and a good coffee and I'm happy.

You definitely get breakfast at the main restaurant.

First off, excuse my early-morning-phone-answer from before, forgetting to say thanks for an excellent report!

I see, did you inquire with a lounge attendant about Birchermesli? Seems like an easy enough request IF there is any in the hotel... And definitely something that should be on offer..
Was there no yoghurt/oats and fruit at least to fake-your-own? That would be rather sad then..

Not to worry

I was only here for one night so didn't bother as I could create my own Musli-yoghurt mix. Close enough (and that das certainly available).
Just that bircher Müsli is something you find in most lounges at Accor so I was surprised it isn't here.

When I first stayed at the Pullman central park in Jakarta it wasn't available either in the lounge. But as I was staying there regularly I checked in the main restaurant and saw it there and requested it to be served in the lounge. Since then they serve it in the small shot glasses (?) as standard but when I'm there I get it served in a bowl automatically.

The bed is very comfortable, better than Sofitels so much so that I pulled out the linens and checked out what brand of mattress topper they used, it's a Pullman branded one and I've been searching the Pullman website if they do sell the toppers on their website , no luck so far.

They also give out some premium Dilmah teabags which are very nice in woven cotton bags. The Sofitel Beijing I stayed later on gave local green tea bags which is literally a dime a dozen.

Pullman Hanoi Hotel

IMG_3890.jpg

This was a one night stay after the Sofitel Métropole, coming back late afternoon from the Halong Bay and having to leave relatively early the following morning. So there was no point staying again in the very lovely but expensive Métropole. The Pullman was pretty cheap and looked nice, so booked it.

It is not as centrally located as the Métropole, but not that far from tourist attractions in Hanoi, so if one cannot afford the Métropole, this is a very good upscale Accor hotel to stay in.

We picked-up our stored luggage at the Métropole and arrived at the Pullman after a quick taxi ride. I mentioned immediately to the bell captain that we were Platinum and so he kindly escorted us to the club lounge.

Check In

At the lounge, we were obviously expected. We were told that our 2 booked standard rooms were upgraded to Deluxe. A welcome letter from the GM was given along with a very nice welcome gift (see picture). Club access was of course granted.

Room

Room was of decent size, but the bathroom was rather small. My only complaint was that my room was freezing cold in and the only way to obtain a normal temperature was to switch the AC off. No espresso machine but a kettle and instant coffee/tea bags. Small cakes and fruits were available as VIP treatment, but it was not as generous as in Gilbertaue review.

Dining

There is a bar in the main lobby and the restaurant « La Cheminée » is on the 1st floor. This is where BF is served and fo lunch and dinner you can eat a la carte or by the buffet. We had buffet dinner there and it was very good (we used our drink vouchers for dinner to have a free glass of wine).

Club lounge

The Club lounge is located on the 10th floor and has the merit to exist, but as you can see on the pictures, it is not as nice as what you expect from a Pullman lounge. The furnitures and design looks more Novotel to me than Pullman. But service was good and staff very nice overall. You are entitled one guest free of charge in the lounge from 11 am to 4 pm. Outside this time window, they charge 1,300,000 VND (approx 55 Euros) per day for one guest.

This is the finger food available for the evening coktail time :

IMG_3850.jpgIMG_3852.jpgIMG_3851.jpg

We had breakfast in the lounge (Platinum members can have it also at the main restaurant, even if your rate does not include BF). You can, as usual, order warm food (eggs, etc)

The outdoor pool

IMG_3849.jpgIMG_3846.jpgIMG_3847.jpgIMG_3848.jpgIMG_3845.jpg

Overall

Overall a nice Accor hotel. A very good cheaper Accor alternative to the Métropole in Hanoi, if too expensive (but clearly, the Métropole is in another league and is for sure one of the best hotel on our small planet).

Any updates about this hotel?

I have stayed in Pullman Saigon, and loved that hotel.
