The following thread and its wiki provide all the information one needs to know about taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport: Catching a Taxi at BKK and general Thailand taxi discussion [SEE WIKI FIRST] The wiki discusses the breakdown of taxi fares from the airport to central Bangkok where Grand Hyatt Erawan is located, and addresses the possibility of being slightly overcharged by a taxi driver.
Alternatively, Grand Hyatt Erawan offers airport transfers in its own fleet of silver Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-class sedans. The prices of these service are S-Class THB 3,300 (net) per one way transfer (per post 1976) and E-Class THB 2,500 (per post 1975) to or from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Guests using this service will be greeted by a representative at the airport, assisted with their luggage, and escorted to the waiting car.
For an additional charge, the hotel can also arrange "Fast Track" (VIP lane) immigration clearance, as well as the option of being met at one's arrival gate by a buggy and escorted through Fast Track immigration. This service is available for THB 1,600+ 7% vat per person, or THB 2,400+ 7% vat per person to include Golf Cart and porter services.
AOT (and perhaps other companies) also provide transfers from and to the airport. Various vehicle types are available at different price points: Camry (THB 1,200 one way), Mercedes E-Class (THB 2,400 one way).
I always use http://www.limousine.in.th for my car needs in BKK incl airport transfers. 1050 THB from BKK to the city, 900 THB city to BKK (incl tolls).
UBER no longer operates in Thailand. Instead, use GRAB. Similar to UBER, prices will vary. On my trip, I was able to get a GRAB for 364 THB from BKK.
Taxi should run between 400-500 THB. If going from the hotel to BKK, the hotel will quote 500 THB. I had to wait for a few taxi's as the first two didn't want to do unless I paid 750 THB.

Grand Hyatt Bangkok (Erawan) REVIEW - MASTER THREAD
I've got an overnight layover in Bangkok coming up and I was thinking about staying at the Grand Hyatt. Does anyone have information about this hotel? How far is it to and from the airport?

I have never stayed at this hotel but have seen it from the outside. The distance timewise from the airport all depends on when your flight arrives at BKK. United and Northwest arrive in the evening between 9:30-12 midnight depending on the time of year. If you are arriving at that time you will be at the hotel within 20 min. of entering the taxi.
The hotel is in a good location near Siam Square and the skytrain. It is somewhat pricy for BKK. You really don't have to spend that much money in this city for something nice. If your company is paying I say go for it. If it is out of your pocket, the JW Marriott or Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit would be better choices, and might be anyway. The JW Marriott, whose location can't be beat, has rooms for US$99++ most of the time. The SGS also has a great location but is usually a little more expensive.
Have fun, Bangkok is a great city.

If someone else is paying for it, go with the New Peninsula. Truly spectacular and on the river.
If its your money, you might want to try the Meridien President in the heart of the tourist/shopping district. I paid about $45 nite thru Planetholiday.com. I found flight crews from about 6 airlines staying there.As a plus, the Chit Lom Skytrain station is about a 30 second walk up the street.

The Peninsula would be a great choice, however it's location isn't real practical for a layover staying one night and having to go to and from the airport. That is why I suggested the JW Marriott because it is right by the expressway and is close to nightlife.

In value terms, I agree with Paul3456.
Unless you get a nice corporate discount, I really do not think it is worth staying.
The Royal Merridien (not President, which is pretty old) nearby would be better for a similar or lower price. The JW Marriott and the Sheraton Grande are also cheaper and newer.

I like the hotel... but regardless of where you stay, I always visit the bar/disco on the basement level, Spazzos (?)

If youve never been to bangkok before then maybe the Westin is in the touristy part -Patpong-$20 Rolex and brietlings lots of ACTION-If u need nights or points Hyatt is ok but you need to be paying a reasonable rate to get upgraded-but the lounge is nice-its just a way from the river etc!!after all that i stay there-(i need the nights!)

Depending on what you're looking for, I think the Grand Hyatt Erawan is an excellent choice. Not necessarily the fanciest hotel in BKK, but certainly one of the most professionally run.
-The Regency Club floor boasts great views of the city and has an excellent staff.
-The head concierge, Khun Rewat, is first-rate.
-They have a working helipad on the roof!! (I've used it twice.)
-As someone else mentioned, the basement Italian restaurant/disco (Spazzo's) is always hopping, and brings in first rate bands from the U.S. and Canada.
-It is physically attached to a Sogo department store that features a wide variety of reasonably-priced name brand goods (I shop there on a regular basis).
-Security is first rate.
The Peninsula's rooms are probably the best in Bangkok, but staying there is kind of like visiting New York City and staying in Hoboken.
Comments relating to the locational advantages of the Meridian apply equally to the Grand Hyatt, the two hotels are directly across the street from each other.
The JW Marriott is nice, but doesn't seem to be nearly as lively as the Grand Hyatt, where the lobby lounge is filled the entire day with a mix of business people making deals and affluent Thais having afternoon tea.

Renovated rooms at Grand Hyatt Bangkok
I would like a honest opinion on the new 'redecorated' rooms of the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok.
Personally I think that they're gone out of their minds. The furnishings are hideous, and not very warm.
But then maybe its because I'm so used to the old styles having stayed there for the past 6 years.

Can anyone advise me on good "negotiated" rates for Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok.
Currently I stayed for over 20 years at another 5* dlx hotel (corp. rate:THB 4900, Jr. Suite, Limo apt transfers, Bfast, 25% off F&B & laundry & calls), but I want to switch to GrHy Erawan.
However the quoted rates for this hotel are relatively expensive for Bangkok:
Does anyone have a good deal at this hotel

Besides this, What are the experiences of the Forum members of IAPA, ABT and other consortia's which promise to offer good rates at Hyatt hotels ?

Ahem... Even Guy Betsy pays something like $150-155 per night. But as I have Club at the Hyatt membership in Singapore, there is a reciprocal agreement to accept 2-for-1 coupons for CATH members only which works out to something like $80 a night. Great offer this CATH - but you have to be a Singaporean resident to get the Singapore CATH membership. Basically all meals taken at a residing asian (except BALI HYATTs and JAPAN properties) HYATT property , 1 person eats free. So if you're dining for 2, one eats free. Quite a bargain when you're at it.
Of course, staying at the Grand Hyatt Erawan after 233 times have its benefits. Like the same room most of the time, a personal stereo, upgrades to suites anytime and to anyone I request, special negotiated airport limo transfer (Bht1600 for you, Bht1000 for me) and basically grovelling by all.
And oh yes, most of my meals there are signed off by members of the staff for some obscure reason!

I am also a CATH member, but than from Hyatt Europe. Here it is called: Hyatt Gourmet Club (I believe this membership is not only for European residents, but I am not sure ?)
At my CATH-membership we do not receive 2-for-1 coupons, only One Free night coupon to be used for Hyatt Hotels in Germany !
Cost: EURO/USD 250,- annually.
Included 50% off for 10 meals (when dining with 2)
I also get many dining benefits at other restaurants of Hyatt International properties (not USA and Car!)including Grand Erawan BKK, but only if I guest at the hotel.
Guy Betsy, you get unlimitid 2for1 coupons, so that every stay you have a daily rate of +/- USD80,- or you get only a few of these coupons ?
