IAH-ARN

I recently flew from Houston to Stockholm to earn platinum status on UA and upon arrival, the immigration agent seemed lost for words when I told her I was only going to be there for one day. Worst yet, upon return from Stockholm, I was questioned repeatedly by US immigration then sent to the holding room for further review. Didn't get searched or questioned further, just sat there for about 15 minutes then released.

No problem at all. Hundreds do this every night.

However the sleeping area (flat benches, dark & quiet) is likely to be full by the time you arrive.

If you don't have the BP for BKK-NRT the transfer desk will likely open 3 hours or so before departure.

Thanks much! I was wondering if you might be one who replies. Any idea if NH will be willing to issue my BP in NRT for my turnaround flight from BKK-NRT the next morning (<24hrs)? I'm on a UA ticket but NH metal on that flight. I suppose I could see if the UA club desk could issue it too. That way I can get into the lounges (when they are open...or the LT 24hr lounge). Thanks!

BQN - Aquadilla, Puerto Rico

Hawaii (HNL/OGG)-BQN-Hawaii in early December 2013

BQN is a small airport on the west side of Puerto Rico on Atlantic Standard time (one hour ahead of EST).

United first class RT fares between Hawaii (OGG and HNL) and BQN have been running around $1,000-$1,200 during certain times of the year.

United departs EWR around 9pm, arrives BQN around 1:35am and departs back to EWR at 2:49am.

The airport is really small. You'll deplane outside via stairs, walk into the one luggage baggage claim area and if you're not checking any luggage, have to wait for them to unlock to the door to the terminal. No customs or immigration as Puerto Rico is a US territory.

There's really not much in the terminal, a small cafe, store and the check-in counters. I had my return boarding pass so I just went to security. There's not a sign denoting this, but first class and premium passengers can use the crew lane on the left side to move to the front of the slow moving security line.

There's not much in the gate area - a few soda machines, some cheap booze and bathrooms, but you won't be there long if you're doing a mileage run. United boards early and initially without any announcements (the crew turns right around so they're motivated to get back to EWR).

It's a pretty easy turn - might be a little more challenging if you're checking luggage. I ran into at least three other folks doing MRs...

Cell coverage (AT&T) was great and cell service is considered US domestic.

Lima (LIM)

Although visa-free and no fees, you can still properly avoid the immigration line, i.e. your turnaround is fairly tight, by following signs "Conexion," which is adjacent to the immigration exit hall. You'll only go through a mandatory x-ray, but after that, back up on gates you go.

True MR to GUA

Can a true MR to GUA be done?

I plan on taking UA1606 (IAD-GUA) landing at 11:30am and leaving 1 hour and 55 minutes later on UA1429 (GUA-EWR) at 1:25pm.

Will I have to go through immigration or can I just transit back to the terminal?

Another one! I visited GUA a couple months back but exited for 24 hrs so can't help you out with immediacy of turn.

But I can't understand why you people take MRs to these sort of places and turn immediately for home....I get it if you're going to BKE or IND.... but, GUA! Like last month's MR bandits turning @ SXM!! It's not like you're getting 10s of K of PQMs from this trip.

Actually I'll be getting a little more than 20,000 PQMs.

If no one can confirm that I can make the turn I don't mind staying one night, I just rather not.

No immigration required at Guatemala according to this post earlier in this thread, or this post from one of my trip reports. Both are a few years old.

I have few MRs coming up which require positioning at YYZ but I have hearing/reading of too many negative experiences about CA immigration. Ideally, I would like to fly from LGA-YYZ on day of MR but since I have never explored Toronto, I could take flights a night before as well.

I do have GE and if it helps, I could apply for Nexus as well. Any tips on how not to get hassled by the Canadian immigration hoodlums?

SJU overnight

Have a 2-day MR coming up SFO-JFK-SJU. Will arrive in SJU 9:30 pm, return flight next morning 10:50. Don't think I will leave the airport but can I stay there overnight? Do I need to go through immigration? Any idea to share?

Priceline is a good option.

The airport is close to the town. I would not stay at the airport. It is dungy and hot. Think of it like a third world version of LGA

I would honestly already consider LGA a third world airport.
