Agreed. You can get to the north shore quicker from Ko Olina than from Waikiki - it would be longer to Kailua or Haunama Bay. But all these are minor differences, as it's a small island anyway.

Pretty sure you're confusing the Marriott Waikiki Resort with the JW Marriott. JW Marriott is right on it's own little cove - better swimming beach than at the Royal Hawaiian.
