All reward flights are flexible to 24 hours before departure. You can call and get a full refund plus all Avios back less £35 per person fee.

If the airline cancels you get everything back

I did LHR-SJC and separate flight down to LAS hand baggage only a couple of years ago. Was off and through customs and outside in under five minutes. Stroll to departures and was ready to board again...
