Any recent experience? Re: Philippine Airlines carry-on limit SFO-MNL.

PAL has a ridiculously low carry-on weight limit which seems to apply to all flights, per the website. 7kg is barely the bag itself with a sleeved Macbook and a bunch of empty space.
