I haven't seen this scenario addressed above. I have used the Lloyds Upgrade Voucher just before the end of its validity and have taken the outbound flight to the East Coast. My flight back next week...

BA 1 is blocked as 9h 50 min. Direct flights are 8h - 8h10. So yes, BA1 arrives as a domestic flight at JFK, but is only quicker than a regular LHR-JFK flight if it takes one more than 2h to clear...
