Makes sense.

That would be my focus if there's an expectation of continued international travel, even if the prices are a bit higher to get it on UA ticket stock.

There is a second United flight from SFO on a polaris configured 777-200 (UA805/806). It's not daily, so you'd likely have to adjust your schedule a bit. Considering the PQD requirements, I'd aim for...

United 86 (EWR-PVG on a 772) delayed 1.5 hours for maintenance. We pushed back around 11:40 and expect to arrive 75 minutes late.

They had to replace the windshield. So far so good.

Unusually Light Loads to Japan?

Flying on UA79 today, I was shocked that there are less than 110 passengers on this 772. Economy Plus has 10 people in it.

Is this normal for late April or Tuesdays in general? Seems to be...

My limited experience has been that such work is understood to be necessary and accepted by passport control in Canada. Assuming you're a US citizen here using a US passport. You're helping train...

Travel exclusively with SWA & Marriott

I would use another CC unless you highly value Marriott rewards. You'll get credit for stays and points based on that, so you'll be elite and have enough Marriott points for redemptions anyway, so...

United or Delta

I would almost always pick the widebody over a narrowbody TATL, and I would think DL business is superior to UA, but I don't have experience on DL. Of course the convenience of a non-stop on the way...

Worst traffic in the world. Nominations please.

I think Manila wins, with Shanghai a distant but significant second.

Atlanta is the worst I've experienced in the US.

NJ Hotel with easiest access to Midtown

Try Secaucus, near the Harmon Meadow complex. Bus service into Port Authority and free shuttles to the train station (15-20 min drive, 14 minutes to New York Penn).

I don't recommend the busses...

Book United codeshare or Lufthansa direct?

You'll get PQD towards status if you book through United. That may or may not matter to you, but really should be the deciding factor.

United is going to credit you based on the Lufthansa fare...

I just flew SA JFK-JNB, and while the service was good in economy, the aircraft was extremely dated. I'd try for LH, personally, as they are flying the A380 FRA-JNB and I've enjoyed their service and...
