Nail clippers. I only lock the main compartment, so throw a set of clippers in the outer pocket. Then also have one in my carry on bag. Lastly, car keys work great as a last resort.

Ditto. Plus I use colored (red) zip ties only. That way when I get the bag off the carousel and the red tie is missing, I know to check the contents right there at baggage claim.
