As far as EK is concerned, if you're flying direct to Glasgow from Dubai, it's a 777, if it's all A380 then it must be doing to London and then a domestic transfer.

Priority bags

Flying domestically as much as I do, I've found my bags come out in the first half a dozen pretty much 99% of the time.

I'm pretty much hand luggage only now though for the weekly commute.

Wrong way round.

I generally leave Auckland on the 0610 on a Monday morning, returning on the 1935 on a Wednesday night.

Given the lack of traffic at those times the journey to the airport...

No - 2 separate points, 4 hours or less I'd call 'short-haul'.

I used to do the 6 hour flight regularly in economy and it wasn't too painful - wouldn't class it a short haul flight though.

4 hours has always been my "cut off point" as far as short haul goes.

In saying that, I used to do Dubai-UK on a regular basis and had no problems with economy.

The weekly commute is actually really easy - 60 minute flight twice a week, there's plenty who do that sort of time every day just to get around...

Yeah, I use APD to pay for flights for my wife who is a very infrequent flyer who doesn't worry about gaining status, works for me.
