What is the cutoff for cancelling? I'm within 24 hours of flight time. I'm not sure if I should cancel now or wait to see if the flight itself is cancelled to try for a $$ refund.

I bought a ticket on Feb 15 for a conference starting March 16 that just got cancelled. Crossing my fingers that they extend the waiver. It's my employer's money, but I'd still like to not waste it.

Even if your card covers the damage, Hertz can still charge you since the contract is between you and Hertz. From there you would seek to be reimbursed from the credit card company.

Yes, 1 and 2 are the mirror image of 3 and 4. As far as I know, they never force passengers to leave the secure zone going back to the terminal, like sometimes happens on 3.
