Hi all,

My wife, my two sons (ages 12 & 10) and I will be vacationing in Spain for 8 days in mid-March. We are flying into Barcelona and will be flying out of Madrid.

I concur. I'd personally go with Venice over Florence. Florence is fantastic, but you'll be in Tuscany anyway when you go to Chianti, and Venice is unlike anywhere else in the world.
