You are protected for missed connections on two separate AA tickets, but they have to meet MCT requirements. You can't purposely circumvent an AA policy (MCT) and expect to be protected.

I would still fly AA to EZE and take AR from AEP to USH. The flexible fares on AR are a small price difference. I also see AR has a nonstop to COR, so another option.

It is ironic, that the higher the EQD threshold becomes, the less likely you are to be loyal. If you have to fly premium cabin to meet the EQD thresholds, the main value of EXP (upgrades) diminishes....
