Ace

Sophie Barnes – more like. She is absolutely brilliant. Her mum is – or at least was – also cabin crew. She transferred from Gatwick to MF to get a better variety of routes. Certainly sets the...

Curtain

very fortunate to have a curtain, or any divider at all. More and more of the Gatwick Fleet were missing this in the run-up to lockdown.

Picnicware

not quite sure why you have to put up with picnic cups though. There will be one young Swedish girl very upset at all this single use disposable plastic being used.

Best crew

some of the very best British Airways legacy crew at Gatwick had originally come from Dan Air. Others, of course, from British Caledonian – but some of the most memorable for me were Dan Air trained....

Single use plastic

Ready to fly

I was nearly caught out once by that ready to fly system, which I had never met before but apparently can be used in terminal five because it is dedicated to a single airline. My flight was delayed...

Wait until you’ve sampled it

I should wait until you’ve sampled it – in my experience, I’ve always preferred upstairs apart from the superior champagne down in first

how long will it be before the single-use plastic Brigade start getting their knickers in a twist about this.

Baths are glorious

I personally find the huge bathtubs in the terminal five arrivals lounge absolutely amazing after a long flight – to sit back, relax and soak while one’s clothes are taken to be pressed is absolutely...

Experience

if the point of the whole trip was to indulge in a top-rate flight experience, then perhaps this was the wrong airline to choose in the first place?

Goodness, yes - not that I would have deigned to have mentioned it; but supplies are running low. Not soaps - despite the increased hand-washing, I probably have sufficient to last until Christmas....

apparently Gatwick can only except check-in two hours before departure at the moment. This is causing lots of people to hang around landside and there is much congestion.

Wow - FDH from Gatwick? New to me but would be good to try. Nothing showing for Jan or Feb on the BA app though.

CX all too foreign!

just found the CX area, staff and guests a bit too foreign whenever I’ve tried it. Also, strange aromas of Asian food cooking — not my scene! It’s rather self-service as well from my experience.
