They cancelled my flight in October and put me on a flight whose schedule did not work for me. I asked for a refund without the $150 penalty and they said they could only rebook me on another flight....

I am not sure about Air China, but Qatar Airways seem to be happy with their investment in CX. They would also be another party with the deep pockets to buy off Swire.

My only experience with them is China domestic. The lounges are ok. Nothing great but it does the job. In flight, the service is generally good. Seats are not the best but they are comfortable...
