I would say your trip is definitely not happening. Given the issues with SAA I would go with the chargeback. It's unclear if Airlink will be able to get you a voucher for their own ticket stock.

Airlink are an entirely independent operation. They simply sell their tickets through SAA ticketing stock. There may be some ticketing and distribution issues if SAA go down but Airlink will remain...

It's doable with B77L and likely also B789. Payload would be limited a little, but certainly viable. The route is marginally shorter than DL's ATL-JNB-ATL.
