Hotels in Florida are usually a lot cheaper in the summer. Those same rooms might be double or more on cash rates Jan-Apr. Doesn't seem worth it to me to use those points for such a trip.

Flight from LAX gets into PPT at 9:30 PM on the first night. I don't think any flights/ferries go to Moorea after ~5 PM. And as for the credit card I would sign up if it made sense for the trip.
