AA should be fine in Latin America, they were before LAN (later LATAM) and likely will be still, with the MIA fortress. Other OW airlines, especially IB, took a hit on this though.

I haven't had the horrendous LGA experiences others speak of, though I've heard about them from plenty of folks. LGA remains my go-to (99% of the time on public transit). JFK is just so....far.
