I got a voucher for the one-way cost ($74) plus $200 for volunteering ABQ-LAX last Monday. Another passenger on a free ticket got $200. The next flight to LAX was only an hour and a half later.

As others have said, there are a lot more airport hotels at LAX. I've consistently been able to get nice (Westin, Wyndham) hotels at LAX for $40/nt on priceline.
