Pretty confident the government doesn't get a say in which airline joins which alliance, whether Jetblue wants to joing OneWorld, Star, or SkyTeam. That's up to the airline.

they also don't charge Gold's for MCE once they are within 24 hours of departure. Until there are drinks served in MCE, it's not really much beyond maybe 2 more inches of legroom you get in MCE....
