The room you were assigned is actually a garden wing room, not river. Itís nice but not newly upgraded like the other wing.

Edit: never mind I am wrong, the reclassified the garden wing room names.

Well, at check-in yesterday at PHT, they surprised me with the ultimate: upgrade to Presidential Suite.

More to come, but, wow, this is a lot of space for one person.

Itís not uncommon, especially outside of Tokyo and other more tourist-driven areas. That said, you should be able to book through an OTA (Agoda, for instance) and forgo this requirement.
