I am EXP on AA and 1K on UA, big difference on obtaining status is that UA only counts EQD spent on UA flights while AA counts EQD spent on any one world flight.

Usually about 2 days out they assign an aircraft and the serial number becomes available on the internet. CIP = cabin improvement program, this is the updated configuration with the lie flat seats.

Ugh, just found out my flight aa123 on the 8th is non-CIP, N369AA, the oldest 767 still flying in the fleet. No luck here as aa123 had the best track record for getting CIP plane for DFW-HNL...

Of recent days, I count 9 flights with old config and 3 with CIP config. Unfortunately this flight has the worst probability of getting non-CIP bird.

I would recommend the AA 787 0ver 777 FWIW because of the cabin pressurization is better on 787 and for me, anyways, I experience less jet lag when flying 787 versus 777 to/from Japan.
