Does look like there is no way around the SFO flat fare exclusion. It seems most spots around the airport are excluded.

Southwest has a very minimal presence at IAD--only 7 flights a day. Presumably, they have determined they can make more money putting their focus on BWI, and to a lesser extent DCA.

southwest and involuntary denied boarding

It is interesting that in the wake of the United involuntary denied boarding debacle, SW has not announced any changes to its policy of seeking volunteers for overbooked flights. SW currently has...

Not an expansion

Kind of interesting how the media accepted the claim in the press release that this is an expansion at Love Field--when it is actually a very significant contraction. While there are more cities...

no PHX

Bummed to see no SFO-PHX. WN, AA, UAL have super high fares on the route. The several times a week frontier flight has brought some relief, but not much. Often pay more for SFO-PHX than SFO-east...

I will be taking a very early Southwest flight out of Oakland, and was thinking it would be easier to stay at a hotel near the airport. Are there any reasonable hotels near OAK that have a shuttle?

Was trying to do a same day stand by changing from a DCA to IAD flight--but was told there would be a $200 change fee. I had thought the DC airports were co-terminals. Is it an absolute rule that...

I find it kind of odd that the price is the same no matter how long the flight. Seems hardly worth $15 for DAL-HOU, but much worth it for LAX-BWI.

SFO-PHX discontinued?

Looks like SFO-PHX is also discontinued. At least seems to be no flights in May. Too bad. Put some pressure on SW and United fares.

Do file a complaint

I do think you have a very legitimate complaint, and would definitely file with the DOT. I have had the same experience. SW has rendered the legacy awards almost impossible to use with very little...

Kind of interesting how times have changed. Back in the old day, I always looked forward to southwest's announcement of new routes, as a new route gave me the opportunity to save lots of $$ compared...

The Spirit Effect

While it varies somewhat, the Spirit Effect is generally alive and well. When Spirit opens up a route, high fare airlines like Southwest will often dramatically lower their prices in order to...

next round of station closings

It seems pretty clear that southwest is giving it a final try at some Airtran stations before deciding whether or not to close shop. Grand Rapids, Flint, Des Moines, Witchita, Akron/Canton are on...

Glad to hear United finally settled with you and admitted this was an IDB. I doubt this admission was voluntary---The DOT must have let United know they were not pleased about their violation of IDB...
