I sat there with my son on a trip to LHR a couple years ago. I only sat there for the dessert portion of our dinner. Not enough leg/foot space for an extended time, and the 'guest' has no real seat...

The departure tax is exactly that, payable one way upon departure of the US. The Excise tax would be in addition to that.

Example - A $100 fare Miami to London on Dec 31st, would be $100 + $7.50...

Credit to alphaeagle, I didn't know the CARES act suspended the 7.5% Federal Excise Tax on air travel for 2020. Unless a new bill is passed, this tax is now due in 2021.

I suspect the AAmazing deal is a 10% off coupon. Flights I have been watching went from $439 to $480 almost across the board.

Would like to be surprised, but that's my guess!

Cooler as checked luggage

We checked a full size Coleman cooler (ice chest) as luggage. Used painters tape around the cooler to keep the lid on/closed. No problem.
