Agree with the sentiment above. At a value of 1.4 cents each for TrueBlue points, the cost of an EMS seat even on a transcon for a Mosaic is less than $20, and on shorter flights in the $5 range....

I realize this is a bit OT but I would take CX J food over JL J (at least comparing BOS-HKG and BOS-NRT) in a heartbeat. I've flown CX 2 round trips in the last 18 months and JL 1, and the CX food...

I am a huge JetBlue fan overall (Mosaic for several years) but would hesitate to bet on them for a weekly commute. Their achilles heel, IMHO, is operational reliability. As someone else noted,...

I went through security there yesterday at about 5:30pm and it was desolate. Walked right up to the TSA ID checker, then to the belt. In general the lines are longest in the morning, but with...

I disagree on Mosaic. I have lifetime Platinum on AA, and have been as high as 1K on UA. There were times when those programs were valuable for upgrades, but at this point if you are not top tier...

Another Marriott NY alternative

I posted above a few weeks ago about a pretty unsatisfactory stay at the St Regis, suggesting the Peninsula across the street as an alternative. I just returned from another NY trip where I stayed...

[/LEFT]

The butler service took 1/2 hour when I was there for simple requests like coffee or an iron. I don't see why anyone would be willing to wait 1/2 hour for a cup of coffee.

For what it...

With apologies to bhrubin, I respectfully disagree. I had a terrible stay there, with service lapses left and right, given the expectations of a luxury property in NYC. Others staying in the same...

I am on the second night of a similarly bad stay here. Walking in at 4:45pm the lobby had probably 15 people waiting for rooms to be ready, with another 15 people in line for check in. There was...

Cash+points can be a good value but in my experience availability is extremely limited. Some hotels don't offer these rates at all, and the ones that do often don't make them available.

If this is how you want to use your points you are probably better off with a program where the points map directly to the underlying cash rate (fewer points needed when rates are lower). An example...

+1 on this, though I would add that on most long flights there are significant periods where the wifi doesn't work. On a transcon I would assume that it will be non-functional for an hour or so of...

I flew CX r/t BOS-HKG-BKK in J recently, and mostly agree with these comments. I would say CX has some work to do still on consistency with the lounge experience. In particular, in BKK, the lounge...

Agree with this, even better lounges like the BA Concorde Room, The Wing in Hong Kong, etc. They are just not that big a deal; at best a pleasant place to sit with free drinks, usually mediocre...

The new J food is better, I agree, but still, for me, pretty bad relative to the competition. JetBlue Mint, a domestic business class in the US, is, for example, far superior, IMHO. Ditto CX, JL,...
