That's correct. Although, once they're closed they stop getting older, and thus their meaningful impact on average age of accounts diminishes over time. That's what I'm most worried about.

I called recon, they refused. Said I had to cancel enough cards to be below the limit by 1, and then they will re-submit the application...

There's no way Centurion is separated from Amex. It's just that the Centurion US team tends to operate independently internally, so it's a bit tough to crack their process and methods, really.

Though some spend that I might have put on a different card for better rewards does end up going to my Amex Plat because of this. It's a very low amount however.
