Only 3215 points from gold

Hi

I guess this is a classical questions...after my trip I'm only 3215 points away from another year with EBG. So during the month of October I have to find a way to get these points. Any idea on how I can get them without spending too much money? :D

1. Cheapest tickets you can find which gives 100% points to Europe 2 will give 4500.

2. Find a RadissonSAS hotel in your home town with cheap weekend prices which give 500 points/night. (Some hotels only give 300 or 400 points.)

Swiss has a nice business class offer intra Europe from CPH and ARN (might also apply for other cities, did not check) booked J-class which should give you 200%.

Just an example: CPH-ZRH-FCO r/t leaving 24OCT and returning 26OCT is DKK 3032 and should give you around 4400 points IIRC.

Cheers,

Blue1 has a promo until the end of the year, that gives you 100% of miles on all booking classes. Maybe worth checking.

This is probably the most cost effective option. OSL-HEL-OUL r/t would be a good bet and can be available quite cheaply from the KF website. Any other Finnish city they serve from HEL (KUO, VAA, RVN) could be substituted for OUL, but OUL has by far the most frequent flights - making it easier to do same-day turnarounds and increasing chances for a cheap fare being available.

This would yield 600 * 4 + 25% EBG bonus = 3000 basic points. Add in a night at a Radisson SAS hotel (there are hotels in OUL and VAA if overnighting is necessary) and there you are.

Of course the OP has to include additional cost of transportation from SVG to OSL and back.

That is a good offer but how do you calculate the points? M & M members get 4,000 one way for that trip so my question is if SAS calculates it differently? I have never understood how that works. ARN-ZRH-FRA for less than SEK 4,000 is tempting...

Blue1! That's the ticket. It will for sure be the cheapest way to get to gold.

I didn't think nights in a hotel counted towards status?

If you have Eurobonus and stays at Radisson they do.

When flying Swiss EB calculates the points earned based on the actual miles starting at minimum 600 for normal economy and minimum 1200 for business.

So for a one-way ARN-ZRH-FRA (925+177 miles) in J-class you should get 2000+1200=3200 points, if I understand the rules correctly.

I agree, a good offer indeed and always nice to do mileage runs in C-class ;)

Hi

It seems like I'll be spending a night in Bergen in October and I guess I'll be choosing a Radisson SAS hotel :-) I guess it will give me 500 points?

Errr, that depends. Radissons are worth 300/400/500 points per night, depending on the property (i.e. how fancy and expensive it is). The problem is there is no (public) listing for these earnings, so it is very hard to know in advance.

There have been many posts in this forum over this topic, with some rates based on first-hand experience, do a search, maybe you'll find Bergen there.

UPDATE: I did the search myself, and this thread suggests that you will get 400 (basic) points per night.

Just did two nights at the Rica in SSJ and two nights at SAS Scandinavia in Oslo and got 300 points pr night at Rica and 500 points pr night at Scandinavia:)

Looking at my EB statement over the last year it seems that SAS hotels in Norway gives 500 points pr night.

IMHO most points for the krone is Blue1^

Cheers

But remember that only Radisson SAS hotels give "Grunnpoeng" that counts for status. Rica and other hotel chains only give "Ekstrapoeng", which can be used, but doesn't help the OP on his quest for EBG!
