Fare finding tools in the internet
 

Hello everybody!

As I'm sitting here looking for good deals on various routes I thought maybe someone knows a search-agent I don't. So I though I'd list the ones I use (maybe someone will get a tip there?) and see if anyone else has any other good suggestions for us scandinavians. Those of you who consider this much too basic please excuse me but I thought such a list would be good:

For finding various fares on Star Alliance I use Austrian Airlines farefinder where many different fares are listed including the basic rules http://www.aua.com:

The Swedish site Luftgrop http://www.luftgrop.com searches most of the online travel agents in Sweden plus some low-cost carriers. Their selection on the front page is limited but by typing in airports & dates manually in the adressbar of your browser you can search for anything.
A trip from Copenhagen to London between 14:th october and 21:th october looks like this:

Reseguiden http://www.reseguiden.se lists fares from both online and offline agencies without searching for availability. This service can be found on:

Kelkoo http://www.kelkoo.se also searches for prices but the results are very limited.

For low-cost carriers Skyscanner http://www.skyscanner.net can be very useful.

I hope this has been useful for some people. I chose to post it in this forum since it mainly concerns scandinavian travel agencies and most SAS prices can be found with these tools. So, has anyone got more sites like this?

Of course we all can not forget www.jetweb.se. Good for youth under 26, and student up to 33years. Although it is a swedish site, there are very good deals not involving sweden (example: CPH-ORD). Very good deals can be found by combining two one-way tickets since there is no penalty for one way tickets with jetweb, and by reversing the city pair you can find excellent deals. I rate this site 10 stars.

I use old Travelocity interface.

This doesn't have any ads on the page. Only problem is you may have to reload the page until you get the interface.

Travelocity seems to begin favour some airlines. When I checked ARN-NYC price, I found that LX, BA and some other which have more expensive price than SK, LH etc come top part of the fare list.

I also use www.travelocity.com

The Dream map on travelocity is also pretty nice if you would like to see how far 500$ or so could take you from your preferd destination.

I found another one. Although this isn't a meta search-enginge it is still good in listing the different rules and fareclasses for the prices listed. Give it a try at http://travelagent:[email protected]

Another one I have found very useful is Resfeber, they will list all fares between two cities regardless of dates. Only downside is that you usually have to type the whole city name instead of airportcode.

Travelstart has started listing all fares people have found between CPH/GOT/STO and various cities:

www.expedia.ca also shows the full fare rules:

chose flights& charters, make a dummy request, then chose and option and click on 'Review the rules and restrictions '.

The full text of the fare in the crs appears!

I while ago I had an idea. And now with the programming knowledges I have from earlier years, I have managed to finish it. I have written a program collects fares from websites. Then, it takes the distance for each fare and divides it with the price. This gives you a number which tells you how far you can travel for each penny.
Currently, it only scans the prices at Luftgrop, which is a meta search engine of Swedish travelagencies. My plan is to add more travelagencies though.
I am more than happy to include more pages in the search. If you know of a good page that lists fares with origin, destination and price then please contact me at my email! I will do my best to include it.
