Airpass booking class?
Hi,
I'm planning to fly ORD-ARN//CPH-ORD on SK in December, and have been quoted an open-jaw fare of $580 or so. I'm wondering if any of you know the booking class for the airpass (ex US) and how/whether the inventory can be checked online? I'm thinking it would be a good idea to check if there are flights on the dates I'd like to travel BEFORE committing to the transatlantic sectors ;-) I'm looking to do ARN-HEL, HEL-CPH and maybe additional trips within Finland, all within the period 15-30 dec. Any help is greatly appreciated. |
I'm flying LAN-ORD-ARN-OSL-ARN-ORD-LAN during the same time and paid something like $610. I was curious and wanted to see how much an airpass would cost OSL-TOS-OSL, and they quoted me like $300! IMHO, I would check into just buying some one-way tickets. If you are a student or under 26, you can get really cheap fares TO/FROM CPH and ARN via Jetweb (www.jetweb.se), which would probably save you a bankload of money.

Jetweb is only for students... you need a valid student ID to book tickets there.
The SAS Scandinavian Airpass is booked in H Class and is rebookable provided there is space available in H. Availabilty: go to www.seatmap.com and enter the date and connection details (Airline SK, Class H). You can also book these tickets after arrival. Try local airlines like TF & LF for cheaper deals. Actually you don't need to be a student. They never asked any kind of information about me being a student, but I understand the website is for persons 26 and younger, and students of any age, if they have a International Student ID card. |
Remember also that SAS has recently started selling one way tickets for domestic travel within the Scandinavian countries, as well as for travel in the Scandinavian "triangle" - CPH, ARN, OSL.
Well worth a look. Prices for intra-Scandinavian travel is approx 550SEK (approx. 70USD). And intra Sweden is 390SEK (approx. 50USD). All including taxes. |
Thanks a lot for your replies, guys. Unfortunately the trip is likely off now (I must have jinxed it by posting http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif )but I'll keep this info with me for a trip in future.
BTW the US reservations staff were rather vehement that all sectors had to be booked before departure from the US, and that passengers into Scandinavia on UA codeshares were no longer eligible for the airpass, which contradicts website info. Are the one-way SK tickets mentioned above for $50-$70 as flexible as the airpass? Thanks again. |

Very limited amount of tickets though, and only a few selected flights each day... |
