NRT is an absolute pain in the arse. Despite a flight going out as C4 D4 then 0s all the way back, there were no opups, and no points upgrades. Reason was the somehow they manage to almost always fill the C cabin with paid upgrades (at 5000DKr from M!) and these according to the St Manager get priority irrespective of status.

Was very surprised that they filled over 10 C seats with paid upgrades, esp. at the price as that was almost the fare difference for one way in C, as average M price is around 8000Dkr.

Not to mention other hassle is if they need volunteers they have a very strong preference to take people with connections to FRA, MUC or LHR as it is easier to just put people on a direct. To the extent that they actually forced people to take LH, who wanted to SK, and then only paid them the voluntary deboarding amount (E300).

I'm back in OSL now, having been on holidays in Ireland. My wife and I were upgraded on our way back from DUB! :D:D:D

This was our first time on SK's (BU's) business class since the enhancements last year and we enjoyed it quite a bit. The crew seemed tired, though, and should really ask passengers (politely) if they would like some tea or coffee, rather than merely shouting out "tea!" and "coffee!"...:mad: Has the Punishment levels begun to sieve into Business Class as well? ;)

Anyway, it was our first trip since I made EBG and we really enjoyed the lounge access, both in OSL and CPH, though (thwarted by fate) both Scandinavian Lounges were closed for cleaning... I'll sample them when going to the DO instead :D

Indeed! I will send an e-mail to SAS and tell them to have a huge stock of Gin available! ^ :D

That's VERY useful to know - as I do transfer to LHR, I'll make sure to make myself known as a volunteer for my future flights. Thanks for the tip!

BKK-CPH early Dec (Op-UP??)

Hi!

I have no experience flying SK ex BKK so I thaught I could post the question here. Is there any day of the week that usually have higher loads than other? I'm flying M BKK-CPH in beginning of Dec. Do not mind upgrading to Y for 10000 points, but as it is a night flight, and Op-Up on SK is rather the rule than the exeption for EBG on heavy days, I thaught I might maximise my chances :)

Do you think that if I booked on SK from ARN to US on a UA flight number, instead of SK flight number, that this would put me down the upgrade list?

As many has experienced, that travelling from ARN to US, upgades may already have been processed before check-in opens. In those cases I have experiences this myself, I have been booked on SK flight number. However if booked on UA flight number, would that have an influence? _ Has anybody ever tried this?

See you next saturday in Stockholm!

I would suggest a research into nordic school holidays and book on a day like friday or saturday.
Never heard of massive op-ups to/from any asian destinations though.

I am wondering that myself. I am flying CPH-ARN-EWR August 22 on an UA H-ticket. When I look at my flight from ARN on checkmytrip it seems sold out, only one seat left open in economy. Well I was spoiled being upgraded from economy to economy + some years ago BKK-CPH. I don't care about the extras, just want a nice seat with some more space and legroom.
BTW I am flying with my friend back from EWR to CPH August 28, we have made our tickets from different travelagencies, is it possible to call UA to have us seated together? Well., maybe it should been another topic.

Your Aug 22 flight is booked out, so op-up is nearly guaranteed if you ask nicely: C8 D8 J0 Y7 S0 B0 M0 H0 Q0 V0 W0 U0 K0 L0 G0 A2
Y has 6 seats unassigned, M only 1 seat free.

SK 910 on Aug 28 is empty (C9 D9 J5 Y9 S9 B9 M9 H9 Q9 V9 W2 U3 K2 L0 G6 A4) with many seats available in M for you to get seats together. Just call SK with your flight details and they will assign seats for you to sit together.

Good luck!

Oliver thank you, I only have some more few questions, 1)should I ask for an oprational opgrade in CPH (at check in, at the the gate in CPH, or at the gate in ARN for the ARN-EWR run, 2) you say I should call SAS for my return ticket so my friend and I could have us seatet together. When he tried to change his seat with an United ticket, SAS were not that helpfull (he did not know at that time we were travelling back together) . They asked him to call the agency, and the agency told call United. United was not really friendly eihther, but turned him back to the agency. But maybe now I am in a different suistuation. 3) Where can I find the bookingclasses you gave to me :-)
Thank you again Oliver., very helpfull.

When its this full, you may get upgraded automatically at check-in in CPH. If not, you cant do anything before you get to the gate at ARN. The check in personnel at CPH don’t have the authority to upgrade you operationally if they are not told to do so, so no point in asking at CPH. Just head to the gate at ARN, give them your BP and EBG and if they need to op-up, they will give you a new BP with a nice C on it.. :D

Because of the nice UA MP Visa which gives a ton of extra miles, I have just started buying tickets at united.com.

At first, SAS were not helpful to change my seat; this might be because the flight was packed. So I called UA toll free from Norway and they couldn’t get me a new seat because the flight was completely full. Got op-uped on that flight. Both UA and SK CAN help you get your seat, but theoretically, its the ticket issuer (travel agency) that have to change it. Just call SAS and tell them that you are traveling with a friend and they will change it for you, they have access to the system and can change it. If they won’t, the travel agency will arrange it. If the flight is very empty, it shouldn’t be a problem.

The booking classes are available in the KVS system, just search FT for KVS and download it. This nice fellow who made it will send you a code so you can use it. For complete access, you need to donate 30 USD, well worth the money.

Good luck!!

Going off topic here but you have an address in the US or do they provide the UA MP Visa also in other countries than USA and UK?

I tried phoning SAS up to get a scandinavian.net reference number or amadeus but they told me there is no such number as it was booked with expedia. Now comes the question how do I know that my flights were modified if the expedia website does not update?

SAS agent is able to read your itinerary to you at the phone. Or then you could ask if Expedia would refresh their itinerary from SAS (don't count on that it will work).

1. Ask everywhere, but don't ask for an upgrade directly, just for a better seat
2. SAS is the operating carrier and can assign seat. Just call SK saying that you are all travelling on SK9xx and would like to be seated together and if they could help you. Asking a ticket counter in CPH or ARN will also work. Have all the details handy.
3. I subscribed to expertflyer.com for 10$/month. I like it more than KVS, because I (and many of my grateful colleagues) can use it from any computer that has a web browser. Another place is the ITN section on the www.airtravel.tk site by shuly or expert mode on united.com.
