Minimum Miles in Europe?
I've always thought that the minimum miles was 600 when flying Y intra-Europe. But now i'm confused.
I was looking at my online account balance and noticed that i got 1200 miles for a recent Milan Malpensa (MXP) - CPH flight. Hmm. that sounds like a little bit much but could be right i guess. Then i continued scanning through my flights and noticed a spring trip from Paris CDG - CPH and for that i also got 1200 miles. Both were oneway trips, where i flew out on a different carrier. So i went to the milemarker @ webflyer and checked it out. CDG-CPH is 624 miles and MXP-CPH is 711 miles. What is going on? Not that i'm complaining but i would like to know what to expect for an upcoming mileage run... On that note: Do any of you guys (or girls) have any brilliant ideas for how to get the last 4300 miles that i need to make Silver? David |
For certain flights in Europe SAS will award 1200 - these includes Paris. So, you have been given what the rules state. This is actually a neat thing with EuroBonus of one does a lot of intra-European flying.
You can check out how many miles SAS awards for different routes at their homepage! |
I haven't seen this documented anywhere, but the general pattern for flights outside of Scandinavia seems to be:
If the distance from CPH is less than 600 miles you earn 600 points from CPH, 1200 from ARN, GOT, OSL. If the distance from CPH is 601-1200 miles you earn 1200 points from CPH, 1800 from ARN, GOT, OSL. If the distance from CPH is over 1200 miles you earn points equal to the actual number of miles rounded up to the nearest multiple of 100, and 600 more from ARN, GOT, OSL. The exceptions are flights to Finland, Russia, the Baltic states and maybe a few more where CPH flights earn as many or more points than flights from ARN. Everything doubles if you fly Business Class. These are just my observations, it's not based on any official info from SAS. |
One exception to this is the SK/OS codeshare service between Stockholm and Vienna, which for some reason only gives 800 points in eco, despite that the flying distance is longer than FFT, which earns 1200 points.
The reason appears to be that all flights are operated by OS aircrafts. |

When do you need those 4300points? Are you under the age of 26? |
Kempis:
My qualifying period ends in march but i would like to make silver before year end because i'm thinking of swithcing to Air Canada's program (i normally fly around 30K a year so that is not a long trip to get *G at 35K with Aeroplan). And yes i am under 26 (and a student). |
Check out www.jetweb.se who offers pretty good fares for people under the age of 26. Otherwise you can always fly 8 youth fare segments domestic Sweden for 360SEK each.
