SAS stops ARN-TLL

SAS in Estonia annonuced today that SAS will cease operations ARN-TLL-ARN on June 29th this year. The reason given is that the aircrafts SAS have available are too big for the route.

Grrrr....I was booked with them TLL-ARN July 11th as their schedule fitted me excellent.....well according to my travel agent they are supposed to book me to the next Estonian flight instead, but I still haven't received any confirmation

Amadeus timetable shows Estonian Air also is cutting capacity on this route in July, as of now, your chance is 7pm evening flight.

As Estonian Airlines is more or less owned by SAS I can't see any good reason for why SAS should fly ARN-TLL on their own metal.

Flying Estonian gives exact the same adventages to gold members as a SAS metal flight. 25% extra bonus, biz check in, lounge access etc.

BFN:eek:

Estonian Air usually is cutting frequencies on the TLL-ARN route during summer. When SAS is dropping out, it'll mean fewer flights indeed between ARN-TLL. On Saturdays for instance there are no flights at all between ARN-TLL during the high peak tourist season... I'm a bit surprised of SAS's move to drop TLL. When I've flown lately the flights have been full or almost full (SAS's own 736 aircraft and Transwede's Avro RJ85 aircraft).

When SAS flew with Dash ARN-TLL there were two SK-operated flights per day. Now it's down to nil.. I don't mind Estonian Air though, they actually give 100% earning on EB in a lot more booking classes than SK does.

Here we go...
Expect more to come.

You are very right. It seems that SAS is dropping the ARN-RIX route as well. After July 30th there aren't any SK-operated flights between ARN-RIX according to Amadeus. It's not just a summer break, since there are no SK-operated ARN-RIX flights after summer either, just SK-codeshare operated by Air Baltic.

This means that there are also less StarAlliance award options for members of other StarA programmes than EB both to Baltics and ex. Baltics... :(

I am praying Lufthansa will keep their Frankfurt flight!

It makes sense though because like someone said if SAS owns Estonian and Air Baltic why couldn't these companies have the route? Not that it is a good thing by any means but if SAS will cut routes it's kind of obvious that apart from the not profitable ones these would be pretty early in line.

Not good news

:(This is indeed very surprising. Norwegian is increasing their flights and SAS leaves WO. What to do now when you want to be the first to reach EBP level while living in the Baltics and you need SAS metal flights to collect your points. Here OV flights do not help.

I do not think that helps. To reach EBP, you need mostly SK metal points, sorry here OV and BT does not help. When you fly OV or BT out of CPH and you have EBG, you cannot also use the Fast track security check. Few weeks I was send back as my flight was bought as OV although cochaired SAS at CPH. Had to stand 20 min in line. Luckily I was early.

In the light of the recent decision of SAS to discontinue the direct route between Tallinn and Stockholm, Estonian Air plans to increase frequencies between the two capitals to up to 5 daily flights.

Starting in the end of August, more info here: http://www.balticbusinessnews.com/De...2-66e6475a7148

I wonder how well thought the SAS move to cancel the ARN-TLL route really was... Looking at next week's flights (the first week when SAS have dropped TLL) and a couple of flights are fully booked and others only have tickets left in Y or C. The schedule are quite bad on most days, with maybe only one flight per day, making daytrips impossible.
