Codeshare Airlines

Apologies if this is a stupid question

Looking on the web it appears that the Virgin flights from MAN to MCO also have a Singapore Airlines flight code. Given that Singapore Airlines are Star Alliance members does this mean I can use my Eurobonus points to book a Virgin flight?

The reason for my confusion is that the MAN to MCO route does not appear on Singapore Airline's website as a timetabled route but Manchester airport's timetable clearly shows a Singapore Airways codeshare.

Sorry: the short answer is 'no'.

The long answer is found on the EuroBonus page on the SAS site.

> You can exchange your points on all routes operated by Singapore Airlines.

> Points cannot be exchanged for flights operated by another airline on behalf of Singapore Airlines.

That 'operated on behalf' is basically what a codeshare is.

cheers,

Henry

Thanks for you help

Guess I will have to try a more indirect route then.

The reason that the flight does not appear on SQ's website is that SQ does not have traffic rights for that segment on it's own. See the info from amadues.net:

Manchester International (MAN), Manchester, United Kingdom Orlando International (MCO), Orlando, Florida, USA COMMERCIAL DUPLICATE - OPERATED BY
- - VIRGIN ATLANTIC
Manchester International (MAN), Manchester, United Kingdom Orlando International (MCO), Orlando, Florida, USA COCKPIT CREW VIRGIN ATLANTIC
Manchester International (MAN), Manchester, United Kingdom Orlando International (MCO), Orlando, Florida, USA CABIN CREW VIRGIN ATLANTIC
Manchester International (MAN), Manchester, United Kingdom Orlando International (MCO), Orlando, Florida, USA Q/ INTL ONLINE CONNEX / STOPOVER TRAFFIC
Manchester International (MAN), Manchester, United Kingdom Orlando International (MCO), Orlando, Florida, USA OPERATIONAL LEG VS 0075
Manchester International (MAN), Manchester, United Kingdom - DEPARTS TERMINAL 2

And I would assume that this limitation would apply to bonus travel also even if it would be a eligble airline operating the flight.
