Well done so far SAS! (SK945, 25th Feb)
I am the one who is actually complaining all the time about SAS and service. This time I must say that so far I have seen all the reasons why I have been flying with SAS.
I am currently on board in SK945 and this has been quite a smooth trip so far. Everything is going as planned. Yeah, I got an op-up to C but what happens inside C is the actual story here.
In the past, I have been a little bit disappointed on SAS C-class service - it is good but it feels like they could do more. Something was missing. Today, nothing is missing. The crew is fantastic! Very helpful, always ready to make sure that you have everything you want, even when you do not need anything. They are happy and seem to enjoy their jobs. Absolutely fantastic crew. This single flight could convince me back to pro-SAS group.
Edit: now they went through C-class distributing ice cream! Oh yes ... who cares about P-class any longer - we have ice cream in intercontinental C-class!! Oh yes, SAS, I will forgive you everything you did last year. Oh, one thing, please change current gin brand to Bombay Sapphire. Thank you!

Glad to hear you enjoy your flight! Unfortunately not all flight crews seems happy about their work these days.
As you now get ice cream it means you have had a lot of Sauternes which explain partly the happy spirit in your post

At the moment, after plenty of gin&tonics and glasses of champagne, I am pretty happy with SAS. Who cares about P-class, it is just a way to get into SAS hub before the intercontinental flight. Hmmm, maybe I should get more ice cream.

At the airport my co-worker presented her boarding pass to the GA and the machine just printed the new seat. Same happened to me. Our PNRs are linked to each other and our upgrade was based on the fact that they needed some room in Economy Extra and moved us into Business as I am EBG. Just pure luck (and direct flight with LH had quite much open seats but schedule was completely wrong for us).
I do not know the Tommy op-up voice and I probably will not learn it. I will use points if I do not travel in C and there is no op-up and if I really want to be in C. We shall see when I am flying back home, currently there is some free space again on that flight.

It used to be natural that dessert was served to those that wished after a port and cheese in F/C. DL still did it like that up until they left ARN. I wonder if that as well has changed when they went to C on TAs instead of just F/Y.
The ice cream on UA was served a little more elegantly as desert but the SK ice cream was a great 'snack' served at just that right moment. The passenger next to me flat out asked for more ice cream after enjoying the first one and it arrived within a minute. They did a candy round on those C flights last year when they did not serve ice cream even though you could just pop back to buffet for candy naturaly.
I understand their rush a little on an eastbound so passengers can get to sleep but I really dont appreciate it on westbound TAs and that is another thing I like with SK.
My 2 US flights last month had rushed service as well but a little better in C. Didnt see a FA for about 4 hours on the westbound in economy although little better in C, but 100% miles for W fare was nice.

On a tangent, anyone got experience with CO on ARN -EWR? I have never been on a 757, and am not looking forward to it. Think i can get an EBG status match to one pass and hope for an opup?

Great to read somthing positive every once in a while.. The icecream has been in C and Y for a long time now, they serve it between meals.
But I think we can all agree that the mood of the crew has a lot to do with how the experience is going to be..
I have had 4 SAS intercontinental flights the last month, the flights have all been great. Just waiting for my first "new" 340 flight.
I have gotten a lot of feedback from SAS personell I know that the times for employees of SAS International is very rough these days. They are talking about cancelling Seattle again, but they are changing their mind again and people I know in SAS USA are quitting now, 2 of the girls I know are joining LH in Chicago and at Newark...
Lasse Lindgren & his guys need to make up their mind and get a lot better informing both employees and customers.
If they do, all flights will be as enjoyable as Miikkas!

The problem with status on SkyTeam on US routes is that there are so many of them and the 757 only has 16 seats in F. When you put all the CO, DL and NW elites together that is quite a crowd. On my last IAH to LGW there must have been 80% elites and they bumped over 30 pax for example. That was on a 777 at least with 48 Business F seats. Even getting an aisle on the 757 can be tough with the 3/3 configuration.
While I loved the 757 back in the 80s when EA added them I am not nearly as fond of them longer and definately not for TAs. That said I do like all the added competition and hope it keeps SK on their toes.
