Bye-bye SWE FLY?

From www.swefly.se:

-----------------------------------------------------

SWE FLY STOPS FLIGHTS
- The owners of SWE FLY have not been able to finance the operations and the company has been forced to cancel all flights as from last Friday afternoon.

- Presently the owners are in intensive work in order to find a solution to SWE FLY's problems. The staff of SWE FLY is ready to start operations at short notice.

- To those passengers that now are waiting for a SWE FLY scheduled flight we must regretfully admit that we still do not know when or if flights will resume.

- We encourage all customers to follow the notices on this page. Our switchboard is overloaded and we ask all, but booked passengers, not to phone. Booked passengers can contact us at +46 771 48 85 00.

SWE FLY management

-----------------------------------------------------

I've never tried SWE FLY myself, but I am always sad to see an airline go. At least until the day Ryanair or Iberia kicks the bucket...;)

Their operations were a bit on the "different" side though... :)

After they closed down their Swedish domestic operations, they took a completely different route...
One 767 NYO-LHE and then connecting flights from Luton, Leeds and Oslo on Fokker-50's! Often they had to send an extra Fokker to the connecting airports just for the baggage... Don't think it is easy to make a lot of money on this setup really. Pakistan could probably be quite a good destination, but not with this setup!

I think this is the airline on which some Swedish judge I know found his then-FA significant other. She is "out of commission" now too. :D

This flew Stockholm-Kalmar, right?

Yes, that was one of their Swedish routes.
Think they did some Ronneby at some point with a circle setup...

As far as NYO-BKK is concerned, it never even started!

This is the punishment for stealing my points during almost a year! I am back flying directly from KLR again, have been using the train to CPH during this time. At least SJ provides free of charge coffee to their Silver Plus members :P

SJ has a frequent traveller program?

I did a bit too much of it earlier this year ... and I think I had to pay for anything that came by on the carts. :D

Well, not really. It’s just a benefit card for companies holding a corporate agreement with SJ (similar to the SAS Travel Pass).

Hehe, looks like SweFly also had their own onboard magazine in English. Looks quite good actually! http://www.swefly.se/files/swefly_magazine_01_2005.pdf

Yes they have a frequent traveller program called Commeo, they also sell cards allowing 6 or 12 months of unlimited travels which also include other benefits such as free coffee and free tickets to the cinema cars on the nighttrains.

Did you know SJ has lounge as well? Yes there is one at Stockholm C, on the balcony in the central hall.
There is another one in Gothenburg.

And it looks like they are about to extend it to a full-scale frequent traveller program with bonus trips and everything, just like Deutsche Bahn has already done ^ (even if I don't find a free Stockholm-Örebro train trip that exciting). See this announcement.

Even RATP (Paris public transport authority) has one. And so does SNCF (French railways). ;)

I know SNCF (societe nationale d. chemin d. fers) is the French railways, but the above link does not go to anything specific about RATP or SNCF.

Well, Commeo is not a frequent traveler program open to the general public. To become a member your company must have a corporate agreement with SJ.
