Experiences with gotogate

I had to book a multicity SAS trip, which is not possible on sas.dk god knows why, so booked on gotogate as only option.

I have paid 125 EUR extra for plus pro biofuel, but when I look at the ticket on SAS website, it just says plus pro.

Does anyone know if this is a gotogate scam (like they tried to charge me for seat reservation) or is it an SAS bug?

My upcoming bio ticket later this week specifically states that it is "SAS Go Smart Bio" - booked directly with SAS.

I would probably call or e-mail SAS to check that it is indeed a Bio ticket. There is quite a big difference in earnings!

Now got SAS confirmation and seems to be ok....Have asked just in case.

With GotoGate let's hope you do not have a schedule change or cancellation where human interventionen is needed; then you will find out why you should stay clear of GotoGate (and other similar OTA); there is zero customer service.

It's a bit of a gamble with these secondary ticket sellers, and indeed if anything goes wrong you are often screwed. But sometimes the price difference can be 40% or more. I've taken a gamble a few times and it's been fine. If one factors in that 1/10 times it will go wrong and cost you 3 times the cost then it can work out, but ymmv.

I have seen mixed reviews from gotogate. Some said they got a FULL refund after flight cancellation, so if it's true they are not as bad as ticket.se. I also saw people have issues to get them to re-issue tickets (no idea if they paid for the service package or not). I had to take ticket.se to the ARN (consumer ombudsman in Sweden - good that we were living in Sweden at that time so we were able to use it vs. if there is even one in Denmark that you can use it for free). ARN suggested them to pay us the fees back as we have never told them to cancel the flights - it was the airline that cancelled it, not us, hence they should never have charged a cancellation fee from us.

Once I used tripmonster and the flight was cancelled by CA (due to the pandemic), they refused to refund me the $ so I got my CC issuer to reverse the charge after 6 months - after I went through DOT to get a confirmation from CA that they have indeed refunded the $ to tripmonster.

Prob is I had no alternative for online booking. I normally avoid these guys like the plague.

For me it was not a price issue, just that SAS doesnt offer multi-city routings....

You can book open-jaw and multi-city routings with the customer service via phone. So far, for me they always waived the fee since the itinerary wasn’t available using the webpage.

It is a good idea to price it first on matrix or google flights, so that it is easy to decide whether the price is acceptable on the phone.

problems with schedule changes comes not from gotogate but SAS itself. While in such cases airfrance klm and lufthansa group allows, you to change trough their customer service or on self-service mode via the app, SAS has this stupid rule where their customer support will not make changes to the ticket but will accept to write a note on the PNR with the routing yiou have chosen. Even worst with their self rebooking system on the app. At fist it let's you chose the alternative routing but you will not be able to get till the end of the reeboking process.

Then you still need to speak to someone ;)
