It could also be Norway to make the points value even worse.

But on the other hand, if they throw in some nice hotel in Switzerland, then the price could theoretically make sense 😂

They said tourist tax... do they have that in Norway and Iceland? I guess they have them in Switzerland. You don't even need to far to have expensive hotels - Hamburg hotels are insanely expensive and they have tourist tax :D

Berlin has a nightly tourist tax on hotels. But it is only a few euros a night. Spain has a tourist tax? They should.

Is Hamburg tax exempted for business trip stays as Berlin is? As long as the sum comes up to what I have in my booking, I don't really notice the breakdown.....

Last year, Time Out published a list of all destinations with tourist taxes. It doesn’t narrow it down much, but the timing and cultural context of Scandi weekend travel in late winter / early spring suggests it’s one of the Mediterranean cities.

There are no exemptions from the tourism tax for business trips in Hamburg.

And by the way, the exemption in Berlin also ended 01.04.2024. Only nights for business trips booked before that date are exempted from the city tax in Berlin.

Mallorca has it, not Malaga provice (at least in the 2 resorts I stayed at recently - I don't think they have that in the city either). Tourist tax is just an excuse to raise public funding without affecting votes. Why should I pay for a resident's schooling when I'm only there for a few nights? No I don't want the tax system like in the US that a particular pot of $ goes into something particular - extra bureaucracy = higher cost.

I think Bremen did the same thing. Hannover's tax is insane though as it is directly linked to the rate booked and the increase is not linear as far as I remember. SAS flies there so that could be one of the destinations too.

Charging 60.000 points for an ATR ride from CPH to HAJ would be really mean…..

City tax in Hannover is actually pretty low and the rate drops, e.g. 4€ for 100€ accommodation, but only 8€ for 300€ or more. Penalized people booking cheap hotels.

in general all those city and tourism taxes are just rip-offs. Every € extra is a € too much.

Did anyone participate in the Destination Unknown Quiz contest? 6 winners. It ended on March 9 and winners would be notified soon after.

Has anyone won?

Managed to get 10720 points, but no email. Wonder how much the winners managed to get

Well, was easy enough to automate with a script... I guess you will see at lof "almost maximum points"...

They should have just allowed on round per player.

Now that the destination has been revealed by the hotel, does anyone want to enlighten a plebeian who isn’t going? Can send private message if it’s not suitable to post

Autograph Collection sent a confirmation to the passengers on destination unknown. The destination was in the subject, so everyone saw.

people in FB groups are somewhat disappointed in the destination it seems, hoping for something more exotic.

I mean no disrespect here, but how exoitc were people expecting when the location had to be in a place that would allow for visa-free travel and had to be completed in a couple of days? I have lots of nice and fond names for many places in Europe that they could pick, but exotic wouldn't be one of them. :)

Mods were quick to shut down anyone who wanted to say, which is ironic since everyone who is going knows but well well.

currently awaiting a PM from someone who said to ask for the answer, but he is taking his time…
