LHR Bag Drop

Good day, does anyone know when LHR SAS bag drop opens? My flight is at 07:00, but I don't want to get there before it even opens.

It's open at 05.00. I don't know whether check in is back to normal since the outliers moved back to T4 but certainly earlier in the month all the SAS desks were staffed with no actual bag drop. There was priority for Gold and Plus but it was all a bit slow. Hopefully now normal service has been resumed and you can just use a machine! I'll have a look on Thursday - but I'm on EI that day but I should be able to see whether any sort of normality has been restored.

What I saw on Thursday (14th) was SAS checking in on D1-5. They are stations that were originally bag drop positions with Business/Gold check in situated behind against the wall. There did not appear to be any self bag drop available but at the time I arrived there was a bit of a lull for SAS after the first round of departures. Gold/Plus was on D1 and the rest were economy desks. Over recent months D1 was Gold/Plus on each occasion. There was no one around to ask whether things are going to revert to how they were - surely they are because self check in is much more the norm for SAS than staffed desks but when remains an unknown. I hope this helps - they are definitely open by 05.00.

Yesterday mid-day SAS self-service was open, and I used it to print labels for my bags and a hardcopy of my boarding card. Not that it saved any time to do so because there weren't any queues. But I just wanted to check it, since I haven't used it at LHR for such a long time.

As Star Gold, Ive found SAS check-in at LHR to be usually quick and easy.

SAS Connect pilots arent striking, and SAS ARN/CPH-LHR is SAS Connect for me nowadays.

Apologies for duplicating the content of my post from another thread, but it also bears repeating that LHR ground staff generally couldnt care less about enforcing the Go Light hand baggage rules (no checks in 12+ departures from LHR in 2022).

Ok so managed it with about a 15 min wait. Waited in line at the SAS Plus section, then the Police came to check in some bags on behalf of a person, then moved to the 'Check in Assistance' area and checked in and dropped my bag. There were many people in front of the SAS area just standing and waiting in the main queue, so if you went there you would have waited at least 45 mins.

It was hilarious that there was a line of passengers waiting to get into the terminal, I just skipped it completely and walked right in.

Security was a breeze, 2 mins.

Lounge not so busy.

I guess don't watch the news!

Flight is 2 hours delayed though.

SK1527 ARN-LHR with EI-SIJ was two hours delayed yesterday (19/7) so even though the aircraft has nightstopped at LHR you might be being affected by the same crews rest obligations.

Yeah they said 'crewing issues' that were now resolved and we got delayed a bit more due to 'slot restrictions'.
