SAS strike from 4 July 2022 [and related Discussions]
SAS Pilot Group initiated their strike on Monday 4 July 2022 at 12:00 CET (="Scandinavian time") after it had been delayed for 5.5 days from the original deadline.
The strike affects all flights with SAS Scandinavia, "old SAS", which are listed as "Operated by SAS" on the SAS website. According to earlier information, that's a bit over half of the total number of SAS flights.
The strike does not affect flights by SAS Connect, SAS Link, Air Baltic, Cityjet or Xfly, since those companies (subsidiaries or wet lease) have other union agreements. They are listed as e.g. "Operated by SAS Connect". These companies operate some domestic and European flights. All SAS long haul flights are operated by SAS Scandinavia.
The strike does not affect code share flights with Star Alliance partners or other partners sold under an SK flight number. E.g. "Operated by LH".
You can check here if your flight is affected: https://www.flysas.com/travel/flightstatus/
Please notice that the operator can change, so if you e.g. bought a ticket two months ago that says "Operated by Xfly", this can have changed in the meantime, so you should check using the link above. There is also a possibility that SAS will replan/rebalance some of their remaining traffic now that the strike has started.

I have a flight tomorrow AMS- OSL - KSU. The OSL- KSU has been canceled, but the flight from AMS is operated by Cityjet and therefore not canceled and open for check in.
I will contact SAS, but if I cant contact them on time, does this mean that I have to fly tomorrow to Oslo and wait there till something happens? I dont want to lose my first flight for no shown

SAS is supposedly rebooking but I imagine they are swamped and have challenges finding alternatives. If they are really proactive and find space they could put you on KLM to BGO and then Wideroe to KSU.

Ugh. Going ewr to Copenhagen on Sunday, Copenhagen to Oslo on Thursday, then to Stockholm on the following Sunday, then back to ewr on the following Wednesday. All on SAS. Wonderful. Sounds like I should go ahead and unpack.

Family are caught up in this: an Expedia booking for four people PDX-ORD-CPH-ARN-UME and return.
Expedia wont refund or rebook until SAS confirm the cancellation. Viewing the booking on flysas.com says the itinerary will be unaffected by the strike, yet the flight status tool says likely to be cancelled if the strike continues.
I have a nasty feeling flight cancellations will only be confirmed on a rolling 24hr or 48hr basis, leaving them few options to rebook.

Oh no. I'm scheduled to fly LHR-CPH on SK500 on July 6 and ARN-LHR on SK1527 on July 16, both operated by SAS Connect.
Currently both are still shown as 'scheduled' on the flight status page. Do I need to be worried, especially about the July 6 flight?
Edit: FWIW, I was checking my flight status online and realized the July 6 flight was already open for check-in (well before 24 hours). So now I'm checked in. Hope that means chances of cancellation are slightly lower.

Yes, that's what the official press release says. I'm just hoping things don't change and / or there aren't flow-through effects. Fingers crossed!

I am leaving tonight on a somewhat complicated UA partner award ticket that includes several legs on SAS mainline. If one of my flights is canceled, I should contact UA, not SK, right?
I see that my first SAS flight, which is Wednesday morning out of OSL, hasnt been canceled yet, but that same flight is canceled the day before (Tuesday). In situations like this, would the airline typically try not to cancel the same flight two days in a row? (It is a twice-daily frequency to a smaller Norwegian airport, EVE.) Holding out hope

If it is a PSO route they might try to get a solution to operate it, but for normal routes, other unionised crews will not take over operations affected by the strike. I.e. they can't just switch flights to Connect or Link. Nor does Connect or Link have the fleet to drastically expand to cover.
If the strike drags on very long, SK may try to get wet lease operators in to have some flights operated, but it would be seen as going rather nuclear, so that is really not going to happen in the first period of the strike. But I am sure management is starting to consider their options.

It not about alternating days because this isn't a capacity issue. The issue is the strike of mainline pilots means that there is no one to fly the planes on that route. It's entirely possible that they could take crew (and potentially planes) from other routes to compensate, but I doubt SAS has the spare capacity for that. Their subsidiaries are just as busy as ever 😶 But fingers crossed that your trip is successful.
I suspect you'll get clarity on your trip status by the morning.
