Tiers with basic points when EBD

Hi all,

I am currently Eurobonus Diamond. As I understand, when my year as EBD finishes, I will have a soft landing to EBG for one year. Currently, I'm a few basic points short of getting 90000. Once I reach that, does it mean that I get to keep my Diamond benefits for one additional year, as well as two years of Gold from soft landing? Or will I simply be Diamond for two years and then one year of Gold?

Sorry if this is a very basic question. I tried to read the T&C for Eurobonus, but was unable to ascertain the answer to this.

Your EB level is always based on the qualification points you earned during the previous qualification period. The only exception is when you come from EBD level, you can never be downgraded to lower than gold, but that level will only last 1 year and there are no softlanding on silver from gold.

Hope this answered your question.

Beside that. If you are missing less than 10.000 point to retain EBD level, you can buy the missing basic points for a period after your qualification period ended. I think it's 3 months, which is also the grace period where you will retain your EBD status even if you didn't meet the qualification requirement.

Oh thanks very much. It did answer my question. As for the miles needed, there's still a lot of time left in my qualification period. So I don't think I need to purchase the basic points yet since I have a bunch of upcoming trips.

I had a relative who went straigt from EBG to EBB.... Great to see the usual consistency (none) from SAS!

If I can continue to pull from your thread...
Diamond has only seemed to pile issues from other *A carriers, particularly Air India and TK (just recently).
What do you put in when flying with other *A airlines? EBG1718xxxxx, EBD1718xxxxx, only 1718xxxxx?
Tough to use when it changes based on the carrier, so looking for some form of consistency (if that exists with SK)

Reading other threads on FT, agree with others that SKs loyalty programs are a bit sub-par, but seems others might be looking a bit elsewhere too.

Air India has not just issues with EBD or EB in general. They have issues with almost all other frequent flyer programs in general. They can only be added at the airport, either at check-in or at the gate. TK I don't know, but wouldn't be surprised if it's the same issue.

It depends on the airline how other airlines frequent flyer programs should be entered. Most of the issues I've seen in the past has vanished over the last years so now I just type EB<status level><Member number> In the past I sometimes had to type SKEB<status level><Member number>

Did not have any issues with putting in EBD12345678 in the last two years. When they launched the Diamond tier there was a ton off issues, especially with non-airline partners like Sixt or Avis. Then usually just the number 12345678 or EB12345678 worked.

You really speak to my soul. I travel on AI a lot. AI bookings can't handle EBD numbers. I've contacted SAS and AI numerous times about this and haven't heard much from them. Though if you book on the AI website and enter your EBD number, it fails to show up on your boarding pass but still miles get added correctly in a few days.

Though recently I had a BOM-LHR roundtrip in business on AI that would earn me 18k points. I booked it on an OTA and was unable to add my EBD number. It took SAS about two months to verify that I had actually traveled on this flight after the online retro-credit form failed to verify that I had actually traveled on this flight. The AI staff at BOM was very capable, though, and had no trouble issuing a lounge invitation to a companion who was traveling on another *A carrier at the same time once they saw my EBD card. In LHR, the AI check in agents said that they have faced the same issue a number of times because the AI system couldn't handle the EBD numbers.

As I wrote above. AI can't handle any airlines frequent flyer numbers online EBD or not. Frequent flyer numbers for other frequent flyer programs than AI's own, has to be added to the AI tickets at the airport. AI are not using the same systems as SK and most of the other *A airlines. That's also why the check-in at CPH airport is in terminal 2 despite ground handling is done by SK.

I was recently on an AI flight and I called both SK and AI to get my EB frequent flyer number added. Both said it could only be done at the airport. On the outbound leg there were no issues. My EB number was added at the check-in counter and I got the points 2 days after I landed in Delhi. For the return flight it's another story. Despite my EB number being added at the check-in counter and visible on the boarding card I had to retro claim the points, but once I hit the send button on the online form the points was added to my account within minutes.
If you have had a retro claim fail the online verification. Something else has been wrong with your ticket or boarding card and your issue with getting the EB number added is not an EB issue. This happened to me for a LH flight recently. I don't know what was wrong but the situation was exactly as you describe it for AI

That's a good point, but pretty much every single time in my case, AI boarding passes do not display my EBD number even when I add it at the airport. Most of the time at the airport the staff have to call a supervisor to have a look, which is then followed by an apology that it couldn't be added, followed by giving me the correct lounge access cards (wherever applicable).

Next time they manage to add it to your ticket, ask how they did it. Then you can tell the staff that fails how to do it correctly. The AI systems is notorious bad at handling other airlines frequent flyer programs.
