Five full flights from ARN canceled.

Apparently due to pilot shortage and tech issues. SK is having a hard time finding flights to rebook on.

They're cancelling many of the SH flights aswell. This Summer has been a mess so far. Mostly on flights operated by CityJet where they are short of crew. Not a good look...

Many flights on CityJet this summer were culled in May.

CityJet is extremely unpopular here in KSU where SK is a monopoly operator to OSL (no DY unlike all other SK destinations in Norway), and where all flights were franchised out to CityJet last year.

SK has suffered such a fall in reputation locally, that they have broght back 737s.

Is this because the pilots like the rest of Sweden still think its 1950 and industrial vacations are still a thing?

Or how do they only have a shortage of pilots in July?

There is an increase of flights in July. Everywhere in Europe.
An average day sees 20 000 flights in Europe. In the last three weeks there was more than 34 000 flights two Fridays, and on average 7000 more than a normal day. There is a shortage of pilot in Europe generally and July is logically more affected due to the increased traffic,

50s?

Sweden's forests are burning, yet only two of the armed forces' helicopters are in action. The rest are grounded because the crews are on vacation and by law cannot be recalled.

I'm not making this up.

A neighbor broke her arm badly in a boating accident the other day. All the orthopedic surgeons at the nearest hospital were on vacation, so the ER referred her to one 100+ km up the road.

Another neighbor fell off a chair and broke her leg. The local VFD has an ambulance, but no qualified EMTs, so it took over three hours to get her to the same hospital, which sent her on to another 160 km away.

Sweden is a fabulous country, and a modern and affluent socialist paradise. As long as you don't have an accident, become a victim of crime, have a fire, or need to travel by train.

Johan, with apologies for going OT.

So that's why we have Danish firefighters battling forest fires in Sweden so that the locals can be on vacation.....?

According to media reports, SK has canceled 700 flights the past three months due to staff shortages. 80% of these were Cityjet or SK Ireland flights.

Change is worse than your country burning down so we fight change instead of fire.

Every Swede will speak appalled about this but not one will cut their vacation short or take it during another point in the year. Hypocrisy is a critical building block of Swedish society.

Sweden is a fabulous country, and a modern and affluent socialist paradise. As long as you don't have an accident, become a victim of crime, have a fire, or need to travel by train.
Yet the government will do anything in their power to make sure that the odds of you having an accident, becoming a victim of a crime, have a fire or need to use public transportation are only increasing.

And the Italians, French, Polish and Greenland, the Swedes will resume firefighting on the last of August as they return from vacation.

Almost. Another of my neighbors is an ER traumatologist at major university hospital. He actually worked last week.

Back OT: another half dozen flights out of ARN canceled today for the usual reason.

uh oh... I have an upcoming trip in September and will fly from Bergen (coming from Sogndal) to ARN in the evening on SK and the next day in the evening further with Swiss (the start of an F-Class itinary I do absolutely not want to miss). So I'm only a bit worried about the Bergen-ARN leg... Sogndal to Bergen on Wideroe doesn't have such issues does it? Do you think those cancellation issues will be resolved by September? (Or should I look into train connections from bergen to Arn just in case? hmpf)

Flight cancellations out of ARN isn't uncommon. Over the last year, the same smaller airports has had more or less daily cancellations both by SAS and Norwegian. I don't know the reason. I just see it on the departure board when I pass through the airport.
