Check in on connection with SAS app

How do I use the check in on connection feature of the app? Has anybody succeeded using this? When I press the link, I am asked for a PNR, and then I invariably get a message that the departing time does not allow it.

Because of that, I was checking in separately for connecting flights, on separate PNRs, so far. Yet on tight connections it would be nice to link the PNRs so that the second flight staff know it. I was hoping that this app feature is for this. And possibly for cross checking luggage more easily.

(my connection time in CPH is 55 minutes tomorrow, Schengen-to-Schengen, so I don't think this is an MCT problem).

It would genuinely surprise me if that is what the feature is for. Not only does SK typically not have the technical skill set for such an advanced feature but it is also not something that works in the interest of the airline(s). If you're checked in separately for your connecting flight, the reason for your delay or not showing up is completely irrelevant to the connecting flight staff. Either you are there or you are not. Different story if it was one itinerary.

Nevertheless I'm interested to find out what it is intended for.

On a connection AAA - BBB - CCC it refuses adding BBB - CCC on the checkin of AAA - BBB due to the departure time not allowing it (55 minutes layover, both flights in PLUS, both on SK metal). On the check in of BBB - CCC it disallows to add AAA - BBB with an error message that the latter is not a connecting flight.

This is as much as I have been able to figure out, by now trying to use this feature about 3 times with no success.

Is the second flight open for check-in?

Assuming you check-in AAA-BBB 23:59 minutes before departure a BBB-CCC flight 55 minutes after arrival in BBB on a separate reservation would not be open for check-in for at least 55 minutes plus the flight time from AAA-BBB, right?

For me it worked with both flights when both are open for check-in.

They both were opened for check in, and I had no problem to check in for them separately (I even cancelled both checkins then to try whether it will work after that "on connection" but it did not).

What was your connection time? Could it be that the app requires more than the official stated time?

I just checked in on the app yesterday for two flights today.
Both flights were open for check-in, both SAS metal intra -Europe.
Connection time 1 hour, 15 min.
I don't think I used any special connecting flight feature - as far as I remember I just clicked once on the blue check-in button.
Both flights on the same boarding card (printed in CPH airport).

Add:
Just realised that I misunderstood the question.
My flights were on one ticket, so no need for the 'check-in on connection button'.
