A320 Neo arriving

First A320 Neo will fly first commercial flight ARN-CPH 27. October as SK405 dep. 12.45. That’s the plan, no guarantee.

From Sunday 30. October the aircraft, LN-RGM, will serve ARN-CPH with four daily rotations. Type code is 32A.

Did SK go for the same Space Plus layout as Lufthansa where the last couple of rows have no overhead storage? A brilliant way to make a new plane type disliked by travellers from day one...

Don't know about the bins but they will have the SpaceFlex installed but unlike Lufthansa, SK will retain 30'' pitch all the way to the back of the aircraft instead of 28'' ^

That's one massive improvement. Lufti did get a fair amount of flak on FT for their cabin config of the NEO.

Pax sitting on the last two rows are problably only flying one og two times a year, have bought the tickets solely by price and will not know what aircraft they are on - and maybe even not being aware of what airline they are on.

But what should be the reason not having overhead bins in that area?

To answer myself: Could be due to the curvature of the a/c. Anyway, according to the LH seatmap, row 32 (last row) will not be pleasant seats anyhow. More narrow seats and now window.

Or people who've been rebooked to 31B because SAS can't run their winter schedule properly, not that that's ever been me, oh no

Lufthansa traditionally enjoy putting other *A elites than their own there on connecting codeshare tickets.

Or just because they chose to move the Plus/Go divider to have a few extra empty rows of Plus on the early flight to Arlanda. Had that happen a few times....

The spaceflex is nothing unique to A320 neo, the new 6 A320ceo LH stationed in MUC also have spaceflex in the back. The last row has no window. Otherwise no difference to a SAS seat in the back. Spaceflex lav is very similar to the rear lav in the tail of a SAS 736 or the MD80s. The bin in the back are filled with safety/crew equipment (O2 tanks, first aid kit etc) that used to be under the last row previously.

I’m bit puzzled, that all aircraft seems to be A320. No A319 or A321 to give flexibility in capacity as is the case today with 319/320/321 ceo and 736/737/738.

Now I can read, that Mr. Gustafson considers swapping some A320 to A321LR. That’s very interesting, but still no flexibility intra Europe.

The new mantra in the airline industry seems to be that there is no point in keeping a fleet below a 168-180 seater A320 for regional mainline flying. An A319 is a waste of money when you can use RJs and an A321 is too big and requires extra crew for the routes SAS flies.

The order list shows that nicely (taken from Airbus - Spotlight on... A320neo)
