I also thought it was off limits these days. Long story, but the purser got so amused/impressed/puzzled that I celebrated my birthday taking my whole family on an evening flight CPH-CDG-CPH. When we re-entered at CDG, we got superior attention and service and the purser said before take-off, that the captain would like to see me a little later. So I was able to spent the last 30 minutes in the jump seat. Nice.

Flew last week on an A320neo without even knowing it! The interior looked newish and there was mood lighting, but the cabin style (overhead bins and panels) looked so much like the classic A320 type that I was pretty sure it wasn't a neo. Only when my partner pulled some internet photos of the SAS neo styling did I become convinced that it was a neo. The route was CDG-ARN. The plane had sharklets.

Easiest way to identify the NEO from inside the plane is the USB port in the back of the seat in front of you
From the outside... if you can differentiate between a 737 and a 320 (best option is to look for the engines, engines on the Airbus are round, on most 737 elliptical/flat at the bottom, or check out the vertical stabilize) look for the winglets. At SAS only the NEOs have the blended winglets. All the older 321/320/319 have wingtip fences.
(At other airlines (e.g. LH) some A320 (classic or enhanced) might have blended winglets...!)

SAS goes all Airbus
SAS has confirmed an order for 50 A320 Neo. Will be delivered 2019-2013 and at that point the entire mainline fleet will be Airbus.
35 will be purchased (USD 4 billion at list price) and 15 leased. Engines not selected yet.
What I don’t understand is, that the whole medium haul fleet will be one size – as the few A319/321 will be gone at some point. Why not capacity flexibility (as will be archived long haul with A330/A340/A350)? But I guess SAS knows better…

A321 LR may be comming - according to Rickard Gustafson.
“I believe the A321LR could be an attractive aircraft that can unlock new markets in the long-haul space,” he says. “That’s something we’re looking into.”

And seemingly five more coming by April 2019 - at least, not sure about other deliveries.

The next batch of SAS A320N are now on the assembly line, SE-ROO had first flight last week: https://aibfamily.flights/A320/8869
Curiously ROO is alphabetically before SE-ROP, which is in service since August 2018.
