"SAS could be docked onto... Eurowings"
Thread about this in the Lufthansa forum, linking to a media story:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/lufth...eurowings.html
'"SAS could be docked onto budget platform Eurowings," one of the people said.'
Would be a sad but not unexpected outcome. Probably wouldn't have much bearing on in-flight service, but a loss of other frequent flier benefits (e.g. lounge access) that make it bearable.
And one would hope that SAS Braathens would be excluded from any Eurowings deal. Too many mountains to fly into!

I think they rather mean that SK and Eurowings can be ticketed together. At the moment it is not possible to book SK ticket with EuroWings segments. And hopefully EuroWins segments would earn points to EB.
If that would be the case I would be very happy

I wouldn't be surprised if LH and SK pursue a deal whereby the two agree to let LH Eurowings take over a chunk of SK flights/routes, with the intent to at least benefit SK and LH management.

With the new a320's soon to start arriving and the expansion we currently see in routes on both short and long haul, I don't really see any reason for SAS to sell out. But I see good reason for code share, and Eurowings to take over some routes, so SAS can expand on others.
If SAS were to sell out, Cimber is the best option IMHO, but it will give A LOT of trouble with the unions as they only accepted the transfer of the CRJ's to Cimber under the promise that the crew could return to SAS when there were open positions. That deal will be off if Cimber is merged with Eurowings.

It was shot down relatively quickly - and I think we all realise that SAS as an element in a low cost set-up is likely not a recipe for success.

Yes. And no *G from any other programmes. So I guess from the point of view of EB members, it might actually be a plus as you would gain lounge access on German Eurowings flights. But it would be another nail in the coffin for SK. The reasons for the rest of us *G fliers to fly SK are wearing very thin indeed. If lounge access goes too, I for one would call it quits.

Premier benefits
Premier Gold, Premier Platinum and Premier 1K members receive priority check-in and priority boarding (where available) with their MileagePlus card.
If I've avoided them unnecessarily, it would be good to stand corrected.

LH Lounge access for Eurowings pax with a United Star Gold car is very much a published benefit, but it has to be a real LH lounge (no contract or non-LH star alliance lounge).
From: http://www.lufthansa.com/us/en/Loung...access#ancAbT0
Advice for passengers who are departing with Eurowings:
Passengers have free access to the Lufthansa Senator and Business Lounges in Germany provided they have a Miles & More HON Circle Member or Senator Card.
Passengers who have booked the Eurowings BEST fare and Frequent Travellers who have booked the SMART fare are entitled to use the Lufthansa Business Lounges on the day of their flight.
Passengers who have a Star Alliance Gold Card, however, do not have access to the Lufthansa Lounges.
Exceptions to this are the Star Alliance Gold Card customers of the airlines United Airlines (UA) and All Nippon Airways (NH), who receive access to Lufthansa’s Senator and Business Lounges.

UA entered a seperate agreement with Eurowings/Germanwings.
Basically UA will compensate Eurowings/Germanwings for paying LH lounge access to its pax.
Apparently, UA did not want to piss off its elite members, who take an UA transatlantic flight into Europe (e.g. DUS, LHR, CDG, TXL) and then connect onto Eurowings or vice versa.
