They can see if UA has a spare 757 for wet lease

A UA 757 could give full flat in J, more capacity, but still no individual IFE in Y, and no PY. Service delivery would probably slip compared to Privatair, but food would probably be the same. In the sum of things maybe not the worst idea out there.

But I don't know if UA has spare lift around.

An A321 Neo LR would be perfect. But not in stock any time soon. SAS could drylease one from DY from 2019

I am sure DY would only be thrilled to make that deal

Since airlines have been dropping A340s like they were the plague, it should not be impossible to find a spare one somewhere. If they want to go that much up in capacity on the Boston route..

Prefer another ex-LAN over a glorified short-haul aircraft. Although if they where to get another long haul aircraft, I can think of more suitable destinations than BOS.

The A359 deliveries will create some breathing space for the network, assuming they won't retire any A343 (other than LN-RKP of course). Considering that oil will not go above 60$ in the near future I'm sure SAS will hold onto their A343 fleet for some time to come (my personal guess is 2020-25).

Yep, interesting to see the consequences of that potential capacity increase. But the first A359 is more than two years away, and by ultimo 2020 there will still just be three.

Lease extended until October (http://www.check-in.dk/sas-overvejer...a-boston-rute/)
So either the route will close down for the winter - or SAS is trying to get another bird on the route.

Nope - but on the other hand it does not make sense to increase capacity to Boston as we head into winter.

The load factors on the 737 haven't been great in my personal experience, down the back at least. I don't see why upgauging would make sense..

I do the route about once a month for the last 18 months and I saw the bird full just two times. J cabin usually has 2 to 6 empty seats and Go like 75%.

I guess the big issue is that SK doesn't ticket any connections from BOS.
