CPH-EDI load factor
 

Anybody flown this route since it started last month? If so, how many people were on board? I'd really like to see it continue but I've flown twice from EDI now and load factor was pretty dismal both times (as in 20-30%). Hoping it was just a couple of unusually bad days.

This is one thing that gravely annoys me about SAS (other than the way they have treated me during IRROPS, their disinterest in EBDs, their mediocre lounges, etc.): they launch European routes with much fanfare, which turn out to be at weird times on irregular days simply because they have nowhere better to send the planes. Then as soon as something better turns up, they axe the route altogether. They do not allow enough time for traffic to develop. All of the above gripes apply, for example, to EDI-SVG last year.

There's no way I would plan my life and travels around SAS's routes to regional airports in the UK or elsewhere. Terrible for connections, terrible for O&D, but probably helps someone in the SAS management team look good.

It's not that I want to plan my life around them either but they're the only airline that offers a connection to where I need to go. And with good connection times as well :)

I don't, I was just wondering how the route was doing in general with respect to load. Thanks for the offer though.

I'm not very optimistic about the route's existence next year, there's competition from both easyJet and Norwegian who are generally much cheaper.

I've flown it twice CPH-EDI, both on A319s. I'd say the loads were 75% and 60%. The interesting thing for me is that most of the passengers were Danish. Oddly, it makes a decent connection from Stockholm, should the direct flight be at the wrong end of the day. At least it avoids flying too far south to connect :-)

A further observation, live from the wifi equipped 737-800 flying EDI-ARN just now. Flight is around 95% full in Go, with just the two of us in Plus (row 1-4). Seems mostly Swedes on board.

I should clarify why I made that observation along with my previous one about mostly Danes... SAS are not advertising these routes well in Scotland (obvious from the passengers). I wish they would - I am very keen for them to succeed.

Norwegian fly the same routes, typically around the same times as SAS. Easyjet also do EDI-CPH, if I recall.
