Multiple upgrade options at the same time
Hi,
I know that some of this might be covered in the optiontown thread but I haven't been able to find a clear answer so therefore I post it here :) I'm going from CPH to SFO in September and would like to make sure I get an business upgrade in one way or the other. This means I would like to apply for an EB confirmed upgrade 30 days prior the departure using my points but would also like to apply for an optiontown upgrade as well. My question is: will my chances get smaller because I mix the 2 options or should I just go with the EB confirmed upgrade? Or will my chances be better using both options? I'm EB Silver member. Hi Lars.
I answered the other thread about this mainly because I saw it first. Take a look at it. by pressing the > after gakke

I used google search:
"Optiontown and points" site:flyertalk.com and "OT and points" site:flyertalk.com Most probably *A upgrades are also behind OT upgrades, except if they are confirmed in advance. A confirmed upgrade can't be upgraded by OT. In this case, showing no availability is an indication that there is a better chance just sticking with OT. Your question is interesting. I know it can be intimidating, but searching and then reading a little up and down the thread would show posts like this:

The only overlap would be in the case of oversold lower cabin class, undersold premium classes. In this case I would assume Optiontown to take preference as the revenue generated to SK is clearly significantly higher. I doubt there will be much risk that one pays double for the same upgrade. These op-ups are manually handled by revenue management and they would have a certain order of priority. (Of course this is from my armchair CEO position. Who knows what SK would do) |
I have done both (Upgrade for points in combination with Optiontown Upgrade). It worked well as I got the upgrade for point and Optiontown informed me that I would not receive an upgrade from them and my money would be returned.
