SAS prices Stockholm-Frankfurt

This may have been discussed already. Sorry in that case.

I was looking into prices on the route ARN-FRA and noted that the prices for a daytrip where rather high. So checking this in ExpertFlyer I noticed that SAS have removed one-way fares in the booking classes T, K and U.

So in effect they have O (170SEK+) and W (2440SEK+) and higher because to be able to get T, K and U as return fares you have to spend the weekend in Frankfurt. The lower booking classes remains for MUC and DUS and BER.

Is this the first sign of removing the oneway price system or is this simply the price we pay to sleep with Lufthansa?

O class are blocked on most flights where you can make a daytrip so in most cases we now have to pay SEK5000+ for a daytrip to FRA which gives us 25% EB points...

I also noted that that in the GDSes (shown via ExpertFlyer) SAS has entered the lower booking classes with an Advance Purchase rule of 2 days (this seems to be accross the European routes). But when reading the information at SAS Sales Information channel they claim that purchases made less than 2 days prior to departure needs to be ticketed instantly. Mistake from SAS or another way of getting more money out of us?

Finally, on a side note, the SAS booking engine shows wrong information about earned points on the German routes. Regardless if you select a SK operated route or LH operated route the points calculator shows that you will earn according to a LH operated flight (800 oneway in 100% classes rather than 1200 points+status bonus). I certainly hope that is a regular f***-up from SAS IT rather than an indication that Lufthansa dictates everything on these routes.

O is the only OW fare on that route, I think SK files that so they can advertise the cheap fare(s).

LH and SK ended their duopoly some 6-7 years ago. With it went all the joint fare filing, which explains the different fares filed. The call center moved to estonia, the sales office operated on LH property closed.

SK uses the fact that no other airline has slots into FRA to drive up pricing.

A neat way to get last minute tickets FRA-ARN on LH in S is Ltur: http://www.ltur.com/de/search.ltml?s...&view=0&zo=S6M

The issue tickets minutes before departure and post available seats about 72h before departure.

Speaking of which, the O bookings made less than two days before departure need to be sent to a ticketing bot instantly. SK instantly posts a message like this if you save a cheap booking class:

I have always found the Germany - Scandinavia prices can often be very high (unless you have a weekend inbetween) because of the dualopoly that SAS & LH have on this route and the fact that they are sleeping together and not competing. Especially out of FRA.

But I read that DY will start flying FRA - CPH from November, so maybe this is the start of them operating more routes from FRA to Scandinavia especially ARN and hopefully this will actually introduce competition and force prices down.

DY competes with SK on MUC-ARN and SK loads decent availability on days DY operates the 3x weekly. LH doesn't move a finger and fares with weekend stay are all 200+

I've booked a few one-way KF flights in the past, most recently in mid-October (for a flight in December). I can't seem to find the booking class atm, but it was cheap restricted economy. However, now when I check for dates 1-5 months in the future, I can only find flexible fares for intra-European and Finland domestic one-way flights with KF, and the price of a one-way is more or less the same as a restricted R/T.
