Revised AmEx discount system
New from 2011?:
"När du handlar för 150 000 kronor under ett kalenderår får du 50 % poängrabatt på en EuroBonus-resa med SAS. Rabatten gäller för upp till två personer till vilken SAS-destination som helst i hela världen." |
Looks new to me, and seems like it's the same benefit as 200k spending gave previously. I assume the 100k (inside Europe) bonus is gone.
Edit: "När du uppnått 150 000 kronor får du ett bekräftelsebrev. Förmånen är giltig i 12 månader från utskriftsdatumet på bekräftelsebrevet och kan endast erhållas en gång per år." This also seems to indicate you can use the benefit as soon as you reach the target. I think the bonus in the old system could be used in the following calendar year, not a rolling 12 month period. |
hmm, bad for those who spend in the 100k to 150k range. Good for those who spend in the 150k-200k range.

I sure wish this offer was available to users in Finland too :( I would have so many 50% coupons :( the offers to finnish memmber really suck!

"...kan endast erhållas en gång per år." = "..can only be obtained once a year." Of course, when that once a year is half price C redemption for two pax, it's a very nice once a year... |

I would use amex alone, but now use only MC aND WITH very poor benefits :( |

Hi,

I haven't seen any communication, but if you log in to your account status page and open the "pending points" detailed statement there's the following text to the right: Yes, for what it is worth, I can confirm that - same story on my account. |
Is this really true? 50% off on SAS bonus trip in any class? Please confirm!!
|
I just spoke to memberservice and they confirm the change. 50% off on any SAS flight for two persons. They have also lifted the calendar year requirement, you're now entitled to the discount as soon as you've spent SEK 150'000.

I am waiting for my AMEX EB card and will cancel my normal AMEX at the same time. Will my Rewards points be transfered to my EB account automatically with the 1/10 exchange rate or do I have to request it? Are they cancelled otherwise?
Anyone with experience? |

Anyone with experience? Transfer your collection of Membership Rewards points to whatever program you want them in (like 10:1 to EuroBonus or 8:1 to HHonors) before cancelling your first card. If you don't do it yourself, I should hope that the AmEx people have the decency to ask you where you want your points when you call to cancel. Depending on your target program, you might want to "top up" your AmEx MR points to some nice, round, tranferable amount first. (If you have 126986 MR points, go and buy a cup of coffee or something to get 127000 -> 12700 EB points.) |

Wonder if this years balance will drop over to next year then. I closed the year at around SEK 130k or so. Was a shame that my heat pump reseller didn't accept AmEx...

Was able to use my voucher today for my last years + 200K spending.
2 person economy extra (ARN - EWR) in May for 75000 points! :) |
Since there award seats in C from EWR to ARN have been hard to find, I was planning to use the 50% voucher on a ARN-EWR in C and EWR-ARN in Y instead. Membership services clarified that this 50% offer was only valid for bookings in the same class, i.e. if no C-class is available on the homebound part then you cannot book C-class outbound.
Anybody that have received the same response? Terms and conditions on this offer has been limited so this was news for me. |

That sounds both unjustified and stupid. What a completely unnecessary way to irritate your customers. If it was me, I would call AmEx and politely ask for an explanation ("You are marketing this benefit to make me use your card as much as possible, but SAS will not let me use the voucher. Why?").
In the meantime, my award availability for the dates I had zeroed in on had dissapeared:td:. Instead of ARN-EWR, I reserved ARN-ORD instead, all in C. This agent though offered to book me in different classes, which the first agent did not permit me to do. |
I used the voucher for a trip ARN - EWR in May in Economy Extra. My impression was that had there been Seats available in C either way it wouldn't have been a problem for the agent to book different class on each leg.

Using 2 discounts vouchers for paying 25% possible?
Hi Guys,
I've read through the offer limitations and I cant find any limit about this, has anyone tried? That is I have a voucher (200k spending) from 2010 to be used during 2011, and now I expect I will get the 150k spending voucher during this year, resulting in 2 valid vouchers, each with 50% discount. Could I actually get to pay only 25%? Has anyone tried? Cheers Jumbooze |
I think you can only use one voucher per year.
Another question: Anyone know how long it usually takes them to send out the vouchers? I thought I past the 150K spending last month (will for sure this month) but still havn't seen any voucher... |
